Practical Spirituality

The next lunation cycle will begin this Thursday, September 14th at 6:39 PM in California, 19:39 hours in Mexico City. As you can see in the enclosed chart, the conjunction of Sun and Moon will happen at Virgo 21°59′.

Take a quick glance and notice how all personal planets, Sun and Moon included, are on one side of the chart and moving direct. Strictly speaking, Mercury is shown stationary and will begin its direct motion two days later. Conversely, the social and transpersonal planets are on the other side and moving retrograde albeit very slowly, we could almost say deliberately. For different astronomical reasons, none will move more than one degree during the entire month of September. It is fair to say that the lunation seed comes with a strong purpose in terms of meaning.

A Simple Seed?

This is most evident in the Kyte configuration we discussed a few weeks ago and which is particularly strong this month. Unlike most new moon seeds where we have several overlapping energies in addition to the Sun–Moon conjunction, this month presents us with a straightforward and very strong message: there will be plenty of Spiritual power and opportunities to behave as whom we have become.

A Kyte begins with a Grand Trine: three zodiacal points forming 120⁰ trines between them. The vertices in this case are the new moon conjunction at Virgo 22⁰, Uranus at Taurus 23⁰, and Pluto at Capricorn 29⁰, all of which are shown in green in the chart. A Grand Trine is like a group of friends getting together for coffee, they always have something in common for they share the same element, in this case, earth. Together, they have tons of resources of that element-type to solve a variety of issues, but they just talk about what they could do.

So, imagine a happy couple, Sun and Moon, and their friends Uranus and Pluto celebrating their fecundation when the reunion is interrupted by a common friend, Neptune at Pisces 27⁰, who urges the couple to become aware—180⁰ opposition shown in red—of the importance to form relationships based on love and compassion. Moreover, he also turns to the other two friends with whom forms 60⁰ sextiles—also in green—and enlists their help so the couple can reach such awareness.

That is the power of the Kyte: the pilot point (Neptune) focuses the tremendous energy of the Grand Trine towards one vertex which becomes the leader point of the Grand Trine. In this case, the leader is the new moon seed, the potentiality archetype for the entire lunation cycle. And in the sign of Virgo, the most practical sign of the zodiac! The time has come, as prior lunations were announcing, to put into practice that which we have learned, and to be whom we have become thus far.

A Question of Nobility

The Sabian symbol for Virgo 22⁰ has the image: “A royal coat of arms enriched with precious stones”, further explained as the certification of aristocratic status, at whatever level “nobility” expresses itself in cultural eminence. Its keyword is, indeed: Nobility.

This is a case of a symbol that may be interpreted at multiple levels. The king is a symbol of spiritual unity in an integrated nation, and the way a coat of arms is visualized, its status includes not only the king’s personal achievements but also from those of his ancestral past. Similarly, spiritual attainment is achieved at the end of a series of repeated efforts. Rudhyar points it to be the end of the “royal road” or raja yoga, using the broadest sense for “raja”: king.

Thus, the coat of arms represents the collective status, the Spiritual Office, and whomever wears it bears the responsibility of the office. We have seen how this is similar to the process of successive incarnations in the same soul field. As the French say: “Noblesse oblige”, nobility confers exacting responsibilities.

Ultimately, Rudhyar summarizes the symbol’s profound question: Are we willing, ready and able to assume a “royal” office, at whatever level it may be?

Royal Entourage

With Venus direct, it is time to implement whatever we concluded when reflecting on our relationships and our relatedness, our finances and our values in general. At Leo 15⁰, Venus forms a sextile with Mars at Libra 12⁰, the sign of relationships it rules, all of it providing plenty of energy to relate from the heart (Venus in Leo).

In addition, from Taurus 16⁰, Jupiter forms a trine with the new moon conjunction, to further enhance the ambitions of the “royal office”. And the loose opposition between Mercury at Virgo 9⁰ and Saturn at Pisces 3⁰ give the necessary level headedness to counter possible shadow energies of Neptune in Pisces. There is a risk of showing tendencies toward escapism to ever more unreachable fantasies, rather than calling on higher spiritual ideals of universal love and compassion.

Wrapping Up…

You may have noticed the brevity of this message, which is due in part to the relative simplicity of archetypes this time around. It is, after all, the lunation seed with the Virgo blend of Spiritual forces. The Day Force tries to prepare for the Night Force’s emergence as the prevalent one at the equinox, with its emphasis on relating. A Virgo psychological type does so by critically evaluating whom he has become since the beginning of the year. As I mentioned in the last full moon writeup, Spirit offers Virgo the gift of tolerance to avoid the shadow side of the sign.

Virgo is the sign of service and the new moon is confronted straight up by Neptune in its sign, urging us to serve to our higher self. Uranus will bring the intuition and Pluto the willpower to assist us. Let’s put into practice that upon which we reflected last month, all we need is to believe it and act accordingly.

Always Love. 🌹🙏💝

This seems in harmony with the feelings around town in the people and the changes around summer gradually being integrated into autumn
