Some Stability

The Aries lunation began on March 29, the day before Neptune entered the sign. Subsequently, the month of April brought some of the most chaotic moments on the world stage in recent memory. Aries refers to moving in a straight line that points in a new direction of individuality while hardly paying attention to practical matters. A straight line has no stable point from which we can harness the energy it may contain and thus produce something. We must stand beside the line and bend it around us to make a circle with a stable center from which we can operate with the energy that surrounds us. That is the job of Taurus. Stability is a keyword of Taurus. It builds the circle that may confirm what Aries initiated, as we saw in the previous article. Taurus will provide a stable form to what Aries initiated, metaphorically bending the straight line to provide a center.

I’m not saying that the days of chaos are over. Taurus seeks stability at any cost and some of its energies will try to make permanent the chaos we are living. I nonetheless expect a relatively quiet lunar cycle before the energies pick up again in June, when Jupiter moves into Cancer and forms the third and final waxing square with Saturn which, in turn, will be tightly conjunct with Neptune. That said, before analyzing the full moon in Scorpio, let me summarize what we have seen or can expect from the waxing phases.

Canadian Elections

Since the new moon happened just after the final opposition between Mars and Pluto, its effects will be felt throughout the month. I mentioned that the Canadian elections would be held two days after the opposition, just as it happened during the US elections last November. However, there was a difference: the oppositions occurred in different signs.

The first one, on November 3, had Mars in Cancer and Pluto in Capricorn, at 29°46′, both about to leave the signs but in their powerful anaretic degree. Mars fed the individual will to defend the homeland (Cancer) from real and imaginary threats used by those profiting from the current structures (Capricorn), represented by Trump’s plutocracy.

On the other hand, the April 27 opposition occurred with Mars in Leo and Pluto in Aquarius, at 3°48′. Incidentally, their next opposition will occur on October 3, 2026 at 3°06′ of the same signs, thereby having the same Sabian symbols, in other words, the same meaning. This time, the individual will was energized by Mars to express (Leo) a desire for collaboration without dependency (Aquarius). What is undeniable is that both elections were highly polarized, which is the specialty of a Mars and Pluto opposition.

Venus, Neptune and the World Axis

Venus entered Aries last Wednesday, April 30, which is always a propitious time to begin a new relationship or a new investment. However, Neptune was just one degree away, so they immediately formed a conjunction that was exact today, May 2. Neptune is considered the higher octave of Venus and together represent the need to relate based on spiritual values. When applied to matter, it can result in wonderful art. Therefore, this would be an ideal time to start an artistic project or pursue a spiritual quest. Venus and Neptune typically form a conjunction once a year, but this is the third conjunction of 2025 because Venus went retrograde. Whereas the first two had the planets in Pisces, the last conjunction occurred at Aries 1°09′, within what astrologers call the world axis of equinoxes and solstices that begin the power-generating Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn).

When important aspects, especially conjunctions, occur on the world axis, and we must use a small “orb” or tolerance (1.5°–2.0°), they often manifest as world events; thus the name. Nonetheless, by happening so close to the start of the zodiac, Venus and Neptune will offer a unique opportunity to start something artistic, spiritual, mystical, or just deeply romantic, that will develop through year. However, Neptune and Venus can also dissolve relationships or the financial system and either option could develop in 2025. All four important “phases” of their cycle will occur on the world axis: the waxing square on August 1 will have Venus at Cancer 1°58′ and Neptune in Aries; on October 13, the opposition will occur with Venus at Libra 0°12′ and Neptune retrograde in Aries about to reenter Pisces; and the waning square on December 24 (Christmas Eve), will have Venus at Sagittarius 29°26′ and Neptune about to leave Pisces for good barely a month later, on January 26, 2026.

Relationships on Fire

Besides the conjunction with Neptune, Venus formed a trine with Mars as soon as it entered Aries on Wednesday, for Mars was at Leo 5°28′. This is a creative aspect that links the masculine and feminine aspects of our personality, an ideal aspect to foster romantic relationships. Having both planets in fire signs will ensure physical attraction, passion and sexuality, further enhanced by having Sun in Taurus, the sign of sensuality. The trine will remain within tolerance through the entire lunation, peaking around May 22, when the aspect will be exact. May should be a month tailor-made for all kinds of relationships, from purely physical to extremely spiritual.

First Quarter and Pluto Retrograde

As we try to actualize some of the potentialities present at the new moon, we come to a crisis of activity at the First Quarter phase, a moment when we face obstacles, usually external to ourselves. The First Quarter phase starts with the waxing square between the lights. You can see Sun and Moon in the chart below at 14°21′ of Taurus and Leo, respectively.

I will only say a few things about the chart before we move on to the full moon. Through the weekend, Venus will be in conjunction with Neptune, each forming a trine with Mars. You can see the trines in the chart as solid green lines between Mars (Leo 7°15′), located near Moon, and both Venus (Aries 2°18′) and Neptune (Aries 1°12′), just two days after they were exactly conjunct. As the song says: love is in the air, and it can run the gamut from purely physical, passionate and sexual, to highly spiritual or even platonic. Such is the range when Venus and Neptune get together. From Leo, Mars will provide the Yang energy to fecundate the Venusian or Neptunian love, at the required level.

The other personal planet, Mercury (Aries 20°37′) forms a conjunction with Chiron (Aries 24°17), which will be exact on May 7, when the conclave in Vatican City will begin. The aspect can give voice to the suffering of many individuals, and it can bring to mind the Chiron wounds we will always have, whether we have turned them into a source of power or still lurk behind the shadows of our insecurities. As José Millán pointed out, this could be felt quite strongly for people experiencing their Chiron return: those born in April or May of 1975. On May 10, Mercury will enter Taurus and form an immediate square with Pluto, which signifies an opportunity for deep reflection since Pluto will be retrograde.

Full Moon in Scorpio

The full moon of this lunation will occur on May 12, 2025 at 9:56 a.m. in California, 10:56 a.m. in Mexico City, or 6:56 p.m. in Central Europe. Sun will be at Taurus 22°13′ and Moon at Scorpio 22°13′ as shown below.

In the chart, there is a multi-planet Mystic Triangle: Sun and Uranus (Taurus 26°59′) are on one vertex in opposition to Moon in another; the third vertex corresponds to the conjunction of Saturn (Pisces 28°58′) and the North Node (Pisces 25°57′). These two form trines with Moon and sextiles with Sun–Uranus, completing the configuration. Note, however, the lack of squares or other “hard” aspects with Sun–Uranus or Moon, other than the full-moon opposition between them. This is another reason for which I think May will be less chaotic.

Taurus and Scorpio

Millán called this full moon a “shamanic” one, since Taurus, where Sun is located, symbolizes the Earth, and Scorpio refers to deep transformations. While we speak of “mother Earth”, enabling life in the planet, and we also say it “nurtures” us, we must remember that Earth is also where the death of the leaf leads to the compost that nurtures the rebirth of the seed, a process that begins in autumn, in the sign of Scorpio. A full moon displays what we accomplished during the waxing phases and Scorpio is a sign that brings tremendous focus and passion, so there will be energy for going deep in whatever you might have begun this weekend.

Scorpio is also the sign of secrets and the full moon will be happy to reveal them. Scorpio is associated with the generation of wealth—Taurus refers to accumulated wealth—so financial secrets may be revealed at the full moon, perhaps as information about criminal or underground money. Of course, Scorpio is the sign most associated with sex, so the full moon could reveal secrets that are sexual in nature. You may be told something in confidence or global secrets may be exposed. At the time of the full moon, Pluto will form an exact square with Mercury (Taurus 3°46′), adding further energies for disclosing secrets. Moreover, Jupiter (Gemini 23°47′) will form a semi-sextile with Sun and a quincunx with Moon, further amplifying it all.

A Pluto Pause

Returning to this weekend’s first-quarter chart, you may notice that Pluto is stationary at Aquarius 3°49′, denoted by the ‘S’ next to its symbol. A stationary planet is said to act very strongly in conjunction with the degree’s archetype, like its Sabian symbol. Pluto moves very slowly, which is why it was at Aquarius 3°48′ at the new moon and it is at the same exact place in the full-moon chart—albeit moving retrograde. After moving forward in Aquarius since November 20 as an agent of transformation (and chaos), Pluto will give us a break until October 13, when it will change direction again at Aquarius 1°22′. Between now and then, it will form and tighten a trine with Uranus, itself rushing to enter Gemini for the first time in 84 years, which will complete the transpersonal Minor Grand Trine in the Yang signs. Even though Uranus and Neptune will return to Taurus and Pisces respectively, we will get a preview of what will be the leading energies in 2026 and 2027.

Pluto has been in the fourth degree of Aquarius since March 4 and will be in that degree until July 7, coincidentally the day Uranus will enter Gemini. The Sabian symbol for Aquarius 4 is: “A Hindu healer”. In her book, The Sabian Symbols, Diana Roche writes: “At its highest, this symbol represents physical and mental mastery and a natural gift for bringing out the best in others.” Its negative aspects include fraud and fakery. Rudhyar writes that this degree refers to a focusing of spiritual energy. A powerful meaning to the power Pluto will be wielding during these four months.

Wrapping Up…

Of course it is possible to find chaos if we look for it, all we need to do is listen to the nightly news. We may even find that some nonsensical initiatives put forward in April are being solidified. That said, there will be a substantial decrease in the rate of proposed changes.

I decided to wait until the next article to talk about Saturn’s entrance to Aries, in part because it will happen just days before the new moon in Gemini.

I encourage you to take advantage of the relatedness energies symbolized by the trine between Mars and Venus, and by the conjunction of Neptune with Venus. This is a great month to nurture romantic and spiritual relationships.

Always Love. 🌹🙏💖
