Amid Crises and Confusions

Before talking about the astrology of the waxing phases, which culminate with the full moon in Leo on February 12, let’s look at some background energies that are fueling the destruction of the old and the sprouting of the new, for the new paradigms are lead by Pluto which, being in Aquarius, is leading us to the gates of the Age of Aquarius. As we will see, there is much energy “in the air” (Aquarius’s element) involving Uranus, ruler of that sign. However, there is also strong energy to keep focused on our evolutionary path, just beware of false hopes.

Two Important Currents

There were a record number of elections worldwide in 2024, signifying, in a way, humanity’s choice on how the old paradigms would give way to the new ones. As the fixed-air sign, Aquarius represents mental power in condensed form which too many times has been erroneously equated to just the power of reason or pertaining solely to the conscious mind. It is the sign of ideals that fuel important transformations, either by reform or revolution. Ever since Pluto returned to Capricorn for the elections that empowered a plutocracy in the United States, the path for much of the capitalist world is clear: the changes will not arrive via internal reforms but after a powerful implosion, hopefully as non-violent as possible. The plutocracy came into power on January 20, just a day after Sun entered Aquarius and a few hours before it formed a conjunction with Pluto, as we saw in the last article.

However, the last few days have given us a sense of imminent movement without a clear direction. Jupiter and Uranus, the planets of faith and truth, of visions and ideals, had been moving retrograde since last fall but both changed direction after the January 29 new moon and began an important journey that will see them change signs. Jupiter will move on to Cancer on June 9 and Uranus will enter Gemini for the first time on July 7, returning to Taurus in November. Ever since their conjunction last April, which we likened to jumping into the abyss, these two planets have worked together to guide us in accepting the new level of consciousness being offered to humanity. Similarly to what we experienced back then, there is an urge for truth that is further energized by Sun transiting through Aquarius.

Neptune and the North Node

Such search for truth involves destruction of falsehood, giving rise to the chaos reported in the nightly news. That said, ever since the North Node entered Pisces on January 11, there are powerful spiritual energies manifested as opportunities and synchronicities to help us accept and maintain a higher (subtler) level of consciousness. The North Node formed an immediate on-sign conjunction with Neptune, the ruler of Pisces and marker of the dissolution of differences process in nature. Unfortunately, such dissolution may bring misinformation and general obfuscation if taken to the extreme of dissolving the difference between truth and falsehood.1 The conjunction was exact at Pisces 28°09′ on February 6 or 7, depending on your geographical location, as shown in the chart below (extreme left).

Near the bottom of the chart, you will find Jupiter at Gemini 11°18′ with the red ‘S’ (stationary) even though it is already moving direct but at less than ten percent (7.26%) of its average speed. Uranus has already passed that threshold but it is yet to leave the 24th degree of Taurus, where it has been since December 19 and will reside until March 12.

Last weekend, however, the star of the show was probably Venus, for it formed two important conjunctions on Saturday, February 1: with Neptune at Pisces 27°59′ and, just a few hours later, with the North Node which was already at Pisces 28°09′. As we know, Neptune is the higher octave of Venus and brings to the forefront themes around compassion, spirituality and even mysticism. Together, they infuse our relationships with those values. Their conjunction with the North Node perhaps brought opportunities over the weekend to raise the level of spirituality in your relationships.

At Gemini 13°09′, Moon formed a trine with Sun (Aquarius 18°41′) so Neptune’s conjunction with the North Node occurred in the First Quarter phase, the crisis of action from the new moon we had in the 10th degree of Aquarius. You may recall its Sabian symbol of an American Indian riding fiercely with human scalps on his belt, which we said it could refer to territorial disputes or to the mastery of the warrior’s craft. It is worth noting the conjunctions of Moon with Jupiter, signifying an emotional expansion, and of Sun with Mercury (Aquarius 16°59′), our heart and our head working together. These are important energies to complement the profoundly spiritual conjunction of Neptune and the North Node.

Full Moon in Leo

As I mentioned earlier, on Wednesday, February 12 we will have the exact Sun–Moon opposition of the full moon in Leo at 6:53 a.m. in California, 7:53 a.m. in Mexico City, or 2:53 p.m. in Central Europe. Sun will be at Aquarius 24°06′ and Moon at Leo 24°06′, as shown in the chart below.

The most obvious configuration in the chart is the T-Square formed by the squares of Uranus (Taurus 23°20′) with Sun and Moon, and their opposition. The configuration is formed by Moon in Leo, ruled by Sun, itself in Aquarius, ruled by Uranus, which “drives” the T-Square. This is an incredibly strong configuration that will be felt in the 22°–26° range of the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius). If you know your chart, the house where you find Taurus 24° will refer to the field of experiences in which you may may expect surprising changes.2

Leo is said to be the sign of the heart (perhaps because Sun rules both) whereas Aquarius is the sign of the highest possible personal mind. For some, this means reasoning over ideas and ideals, for others, it refers to intuition, telepathy, and similar mental phenomena. Any full moon will display the polarity of the axis in which it falls, but the one in Leo is always special because it shows whether our highest mind is cooperating with our heart to gather intuitive knowledge, or if we have a power struggle between our mind and the “issues of the heart”. In addition, Mercury (Aquarius 26°30′) will keep forming a conjunction with Sun that was exact on February 9. Therefore, Mercury and Uranus, its higher octave, will form a square and ensure that our rational mind is involved in the process of understanding the relationship between our heart and our highest mind.

Sabian Symbols

The symbol for Aquarius 25° (Sun) has the image: “A butterfly with the right wing more perfectly formed”, expanded as the capacity to develop the rational and fully conscious aspect of the mind ahead of normal evolution. The butterfly is a symbol of, both, metamorphosis and the spiritual body. We have the image of a partial metamorphosis in which the objective, rational and conscious side is “more perfectly (trans)formed”. The image doesn’t say anything about the complementary left wing, the subjective, emotional and subconscious side without which it is impossible to fly. Its key phrase is: Transmutation of Emotional Energies.

Meanwhile, the image for Leo 25° (Moon) is: “A large camel crossing a vast and forbidding desert”, further explained as self-sufficiency in the face of a long and exhausting adventure. The camel is the ultimate symbol of self-sufficiency and the desert is of a non-cooperating environment. It could refer to the endurance needed to stay in the evolutionary path. However, given the lunation’s energies, we could be like the camel, having stored nutrients and water (wisdom) from the old “order” before embarking towards the unknown desert of the new one. Its keynote is: Total Independence and Self Reliance.

The dialog seems to be centered around the question posed by Sun, namely, what to do about the “left wing”. The logical answer is to help it become “perfectly formed” by developing our emotional and subjective side. As we have said before, Spirit always (and only) responds to he who calls so, like the camel, Moon will distribute energy during the waning phases to help us transmute our emotional energies, as Sun’s symbol reads.

Other Astrological Aspects

Of the twelve astrological points I use in the charts (the lunar nodes count as one), only three: Neptune, the North Node and Saturn, will be in Pisces at the time of the full moon. Soon, we will have a veritable traffic jam in the final degrees of Pisces when Sun, Moon, Mercury and even Venus retrograde join the party. Together, they will help us achieve closure with the old world.

Near the bottom of the full-moon chart you will find Mars at Cancer 17°52′, the last planet moving retrograde until February 24 when it will change direction. Mars forms a trine with Saturn (Pisces 18°44′) and a square with Chiron (Aries 19°54′), energies that may ground our reflections during the waning phases. Mars retrograde is like a spring that compresses, storing potential energy it is bound to release once it begins to move direct, and more so when it moves back into Leo and forms an immediate on-sign opposition with Pluto, as we discussed in the article about the trends for 2025.

Wrapping Up…

The full moon will likely display much chaos resulting from the many territorial disputes all over the world. To people immersed in that timeline, the full-moon symbolism is to ignore the “left wing” and try to cross the desert with what the old paradigms have taught them, relying on their ability to survive in the material world.

Remember, however, that the new-moon symbol could have also referred to the opportunity to fulfill our destiny, be that as a warrior or a mother. To those of us in our own evolutionary path that includes some service to humanity, the full moon will let us see, in our mind and in our heart, how we can integrate the emotional and subjective aspects of ourselves. That way, we will have the needed independence and self-reliance for our journey through the unknown desert ahead.

The message from the cosmos is simple: there are two timelines in the world right now, one trying to keep the old and the other moving on to the new. And it will continue to be that way in the immediate future. As I mentioned, soon there will be tons of Piscean energy to follow our spiritual growth while, at the same time, Mars will move direct towards its final opposition with Pluto and we will experience two powerful eclipses that will fuel the external chaos.

Always Love. 🌹🙏💖

  1. As I am writing this, The Guardian reports massive disinformation regarding purported raids of illegal immigrants in the US. Apparently, the Trump administration fudged the dates of dozens of “press releases” by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to pretend they happened since Trump took office, when they date from previous years (and administrations), some as far as 2008. ↩︎
  2. Taking as an example my own chart, Taurus 23°20′, where Uranus will be, falls in my first house of self-image, in exact opposition to my Saturn at Scorpio 23°27′, which is in a close conjunction with my Sun at Scorpio 20°49′, both in the seventh house of relationships. It refers to energies for a complete transformation of my self and relationship images. ↩︎

What an interesting and energetic time! Hope was regarded by the Greeks as “deceptive expectations”, among the undesirables. And Krishnamurti said that seeing what is false is the truth, so to me this means being alert to misinformation. But i am (at least in Canada now) seeing a Nation beginning to come together because of the chaos. I wish the same for Mexico and wish we have a person like Claudia here. I think we have an emerging response!
