Inevitable Metamorphosis

This article will be about two major events happening next to each other: the Cancer solstice and the first full moon in Capricorn, for this year we will have two of them. There is a lot of astrology to discuss. To give you an idea, my three favorite astrologers produced six videos about topics relevant to these times, so let’s get going.

Prior to those events, on June 17, Mercury and Venus will make a joint entrance into Cancer and immediately form a conjunction in the first degree of the sign (0°20′), a few hours after forming exact squares with Neptune (Pisces 29°52′) from the anaretic degree of Gemini. Even though Mercury is moving very fast, at over 160% of its normal speed, those quick aspects may be significant. Mercury and Venus combine the mind and the feelings, particularly in areas of relationships and love, and the final degree of Gemini is bound to accentuate the combination and likely bring an emphasis on communication. The squares with Neptune may inject cloudiness ranging from simple misunderstandings to deception, and their exact conjunction in Cancer will wrap everything in feelings. The period of June 16 (Father’s Day) to June 22 (full moon) could include emotionally-charged communications that may not be altogether clear.

Cancer Solstice

The solstice will occur on Thursday, June 20 at 1:51 p.m. in California, 2:51 p.m. in Mexico City, or 10:51 p.m. in Santander. By occurring about a day apart, the charts of the solstice (shown here) and the full moon share many features, but there are some differences worth pointing out, mostly related to the difference in Moon’s position. The solstice is marked by Sun at Cancer 0°00′, at the bottom of an Aries chart. This is the moment when the Day Force that impulses our individuality is at its maximum while the Night Force that fuels our relatedness is at its yearly minimum.

Ahead of Sun, Venus at Cancer 4°26′ and Mercury at Cancer 7°30′ are still forming a conjunction, both behind the 13° of the sun’s brilliance and therefore shielded from view. As a water sign, Cancer represents a phase dominated by feelings that, being ruled by Moon, is also the most emotional sign of the zodiac. If the prototypical image of Pisces’ feelings is the immense and apparently calm seas, Cancer would be symbolized by springs, creeks and rivers where the water (feelings) are in constant motion—Scorpio would be represented by the iceberg: solid water that reaches depths much deeper than what is shown.

As a side note, I am using the words emotions and feelings as they are generally accepted in modern psychology. Emotions originate from sensations in the body and may be stored in it, they are the raw mental data typically obtained by our physical senses, although emotions may also be generated from our thoughts. By contrast, feelings are mental thoughts often generated as a response to, or influenced by, emotions. As an example, consider walking in a crowded room and seeing an ex-lover, the experience may result in a strong bodily reaction such as an empty sensation in the stomach or sweaty palms, but that emotion may evoke feelings of anger or desire, depending on what he or she now represents.

Sabian Symbols I

Back to the solstice chart, the angle between Sun at Cancer 0°00′ and Moon at Sagittarius 15°21′ is 165°21′, a near exact quindecile (165°) aspect, which is often considered a minor aspect and as such is seldom studied. However, when present, and one must use a very tight orb, it symbolizes a combination of extreme obsession and compulsion.1 When it is found between Sun and Moon, as it is in this case, it enmeshes a singular focus of release and distribution between the light and the life forces.

The symbol for Sun at the solstice (Cancer 1°) has the image: “On a ship the sailors lower an old flag and raise a new one”, expanded as a radical change of allegiance exteriorized in a symbolic act: a point of no return. Its keyword is: Reorientation. The symbol is nearly self-explanatory: the Day Force of individuality gives way to the nascent Night Force that will completely overshadow it in six months time. However, even though the State will overpower the person, at this moment it is the individual who has the power and, like the college-age youth who brings to an end his quest for an ideal companion and enters into matrimony, it signifies a time to forego our individual existence and establish a nuclear home, the societal basis for Capricorn’s civilization.

Of course Sun passes through this degree every year at the Cancer solstice, but this time it forms an enmeshed, obsessive-compulsive relationship with Moon which, at Sagittarius 16°, has the symbol: “Sea gulls fly around a ship in expectation of food”, further explained as the easily acquired dependence of psychic desires upon the stimulation of social desires.By itself, this is a symbol of Dependence, its keyword, but note how both of them include a ship, the ego consciousness floating over the sea of collective unconscious. Sea gulls often symbolize the wild and untamable energies of the human soul, nonetheless expecting the fruits of whatever sea adventures are sailed under the new flag, for Moon will always distribute the energy of Sun. Pam Gregory insists quite forcefully that this marks the beginning of the “old order” collapse.

Full Moon in Capricorn

As I mentioned earlier, there will be two full moons in Capricorn this year. The first of them will happen at the 1°07′ degree of Cancer–Capricorn on Friday, June 21 at 6:08 p.m. in California, 7:08 p.m. in Mexico City, or on Saturday, June 22 at 3:08 a.m. in Santander. Its chart is shown on the left and, since this occurs just 28 hours after the solstice, both charts are quite similar with the exception of the fast moving Moon that, instead of the quindecile, is now forming the standard full-moon opposition with Sun. Note how the opposition is part of a T-square configuration with Neptune at Pisces 29°54′, incredibly close to the end of the zodiac although, spoiler alert, it won’t enter Aries for the first time until March 30, 2025.

Whereas the Day Force is easily explained in terms understood by the current civilization, impulsing the individuality that has driven most advances in the last few centuries, the same is not true with the Night Force and the elusive concept of relatedness. As a result, Capricorn is a very misunderstood sign because it implies a maximum of Night Force in a highly individualistic world. It has been linked to the power of the State as representative of society, the traditional organism symbolizing relatedness in humanity. Given that most state institutions have been patriarchal in the last four thousand years, Capricorn is now seen as the sign of hierarchical and patriarchal institutions.

But relatedness is much more than what society, or even a civilization, represents. In our holistic philosophy, relatedness is what gives rise to consciousness, and the strongest relationships are those based on love, ranging from the personal to the universal kind of love. Tuning our minds to a higher, subtler kind of consciousness is nothing more than establishing and maintaining relationships based on love. The highest level of consciousness, which I have termed Aeonic Consciousness, is the result of pure relatedness in Love, it is the Godhead in Wholeness, from which Divine Compassion impulses another Cycle of Being, essentially another universe. Capricorn is therefore the sign of enlightenment, when a Natural man becomes an Illumined man and his consciousness is one with the Aeonic Consciousness.

Sabian Symbols II

The symbol for Cancer 2° (Sun) has the image: “A man on a magic carpet hovers over a large area of land”, further explained as the ability to expand one’s consciousness by stabilizing one’s point of view at a higher level. Its keyword is: Elevation, as in a third dimension of consciousness. When interpreting this symbol, Rudhyar writes: “This is the paradox which confuses so many minds. As long as the intellect restlessly searches for new horizons it is confused by its searching. Accepting a stable focus, the mind can raise its point of observation and see reality in a truer perspective”. In this symbol, the individual gains enough perspective to at least reflect the consciousness of the greater Whole, Humanity.

Meanwhile, the symbol for Capricorn 2° (Moon) is: “Three rose windows in a Gothic church, one damaged by war”, expanded as the necessary realization by any individual making a violent use of collective power that it will lead to the inevitable destruction of some of the values ensuring group integration. Its keyword is: Waste, as the opposite of group integration. The obvious interpretation of this symbol refers to the disruptive consequences of war.

Marc Edmund Jones discovered that the Sabian symbols self organize in groups of five where the first two expose a thesis and its antithesis. In most cases, each symbol can be interpreted on its own but Capricorn 2° acquires meaning when contrasted with Capricorn 1°, which has the image: “An Indian chief claims power from the assembled tribe”, further explained as the power and responsibility implied in any claim for leadership. This symbol effectively summarizes the ultimate test for an individual in society, assuming the leadership of his or her group and becoming its Authority, which is the symbol’s keyword. Note how it complements its polar opposite, Cancer 1°, which refers to the individual accepting a new kind of allegiance (a new ship flag), namely relatedness as a foundation for the integration of his mature personality.

Capricorn 2° thus exposes the misuse of the authority claimed by the symbolic Indian chief when using the newly-acquired power in terms of violence. The tribe integration he seeks to maintain or enhance may instead be partially destroyed if his ego yearns to be glorified by his people as a victorious leader of ambitious conflicts. The rose windows of a cathedral allow the entrance of light, symbolically of Spirit. Rudhyar writes that Man’s soul is said to be three-fold, and indeed three is the number of completion. Which window is destroyed by violence in a man’s soul? Evidently the principle of love and compassion, which is the realm of Neptune.

Before talking about Neptune, however, let us look at these symbols in light of the new moon, when Sun, Moon, and Venus were at the degree of mental metamorphosis under the image of a robust youth changing into a mature thinker, and which referred to the slow process of transforming instincts into thoughts. Half a lunation later, we are presented with an elevated point of view, a higher perspective from which we can properly exercise the authority we have been gaining since we embarked on the quest for personal sovereignty two full moons ago, when we talked about healing relationships.

On Neptune

We have talked numerous times about the anaretic (final) degree of a sign and how it intensifies its archetypes, at times emphasizing the dark aspects. We have also seen how a full moon in a lunation cycle shows in its light the contrast inherent in the axis where it happens. In this case, we are encouraged to acquire consciousness about the power obtained from the integration of an individual (Cancer) and the one obtained from integrating the individual in society (Capricorn). The T-square with Neptune, however, is bound to cloud such awareness. Moreover, Neptune also forms a square with Venus at Cancer 5°53′, sharing the element water despite being out of sign. This configuration could help develop relationships based on compassion and spirituality or fantasy and deception.

In mundane astrology, there is a concept called the world axis, which corresponds to the interval of one or two degrees before and after each equinox or solstice. In the Aries charts I use, they are the degrees just prior and after the top, down, left, and right points. It is called the world axis because planets and events in those four sections of the zodiac tend to affect all of humanity. Pam Gregory and Heather Ensworth recorded a joint video discussing Neptune in the Pisces 30° degree and I had an email exchange with both of them. My interest is mainly on how Neptune is raising in our collective consciousness the reality we are living vis-à-vis the ending of the Age of Pisces. I am fascinated by the tango to be danced by Saturn and Neptune in 2025 and 2026, which I will discuss in a future article. But, Pam made an important point, she said that Neptune in the final degree of the zodiac may seem at times like the end of the world, once again due to its mode of operation: dissolving the structures built by Saturn. She remarked that while this is not the end of the world, it is the end of a world, more on that later.

It is easy to get wrapped by the uncertainty that Neptune often brings to our life but what we really need to do is to allow it inside us, so it can dissolve the anxiety we feel as it dissolves the power of our ego. In Roman mythology, Neptune is the ruler of the waters and the seas, and thus became the ruler of Pisces. Even the calmest sea has powerful undercurrents that go somewhere. At times, Heather says, when Neptune is strong, as it is now, it feels as if we are on a small rudderless boat at sea surrounded by fog. The only thing to do, as the Hopi say, is to trust the currents, let go and trust they will take us where we are supposed to go. Remember that Neptune is the higher octave of Venus and as such it taps into universal love.

Pluto Retrograde

At Aquarius 1°34′, Pluto continues its retrograde motion towards a final foray into Capricorn on September 1, of which we have talked previously. That said, at the time of the full moon it will be forming wide trines with both Jupiter (Gemini 6°15′) and Uranus (Taurus 25°18′), in reality forming a tight trine with their midpoint (Gemini 0°46′), and thus reactivating the conjunction Jupiter–Uranus of April 20.

José Millán, who likes to provide historical context in his videos, mentioned that the last time there was a trine between Pluto in Aquarius and Jupiter in Gemini was in the second half of 1787 when several key events took place. On September 17, the United States constitution was signed by 39 of the 55 delegates, many objecting to the lack of a Bill of Rights but notably one of them refusing to sign because it codified and protected slavery and the slave trade. Around the same time, the first European schools of higher education for women were opened in Sweden and Denmark. Both of these issues strongly relate the archetypes of Aquarius and Gemini, as well as those of Pluto and Jupiter. According to Millán, a trine between those planets often brings to the surface social reform issues, regardless of their signs. In astronomy, Uranus had been discovered in 1781 and on January 11, 1787, its two largest moons, Titiana and Oberon, were identified.

Other Astrological Considerations

Leading all planets in the zodiac (except Moon) is Mercury (Cancer 9°58′) which forms an exact sextile with Mars (Taurus 9°28′), a combination that may bring to mind strong feelings and desires around security and stability, perhaps at home. A few days after the full moon, on June 26, Mercury will form a trine with Saturn, which will bring stability to any emotional issues that may have surfaced.

Speaking of Saturn, at Pisces 19°23′, it is barely moving at 18% of its average speed as it slows down to be stationary retrograde. In the last article, we discussed the meaning of Saturn having a long stay in that degree. The stationary retrograde period, between June 25 and July 3, will be a great time to reflect on whatever structural issues we may have been working lately.

And at Taurus 25°18′, Uranus is finally moving through degrees of Taurus where it hasn’t been in 84 years, new territory for the planet that likes everything new. It will move ahead a couple of degrees to Taurus 27⁰15′ before moving retrograde on September 1 just as Pluto enters Capricorn for the last time. Uranus will remain retrograde until the end of January 2025, when it will move direct once more from Taurus 23⁰16′.

Mundane Astrology Reflections

As I have said numerous times, the Roman Empire didn’t fall until Rome itself fell. The current version of capitalism where money has become the modern god and billionaires its priests has its “empire” in the United States and its mighty dollar. Until the current version of the USA falls by its weight in gold, the paradigms of patriarchal institutions that see the planet and its biosphere as resources to be used will remain the law of the land.

At the current state of humanity, Pluto is the planet that leads the way in our evolution. As we have said multiple times, it is now retrograde and will re-enter Capricorn for the last time on September 1 until November 19, staying in the anaretic Capricorn 30° degree the entire time. Pluto is at Capricorn 27°33′ in the USA chart of July 4, 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia at 5:10 p.m. Therefore Pluto will form a close conjunction with the place it occupied back then, the fifth time it “returns”, if I have not lost count. Moreover, Uranus will form a near exact trine with the USA radix Pluto and a close trine with transit Pluto on September 1, just before Uranus starts to move retrograde. Uranus will “liberate” Pluto, so to speak, to do as it pleases. And recall that Pluto will destroy whatever has not been reformed by Uranus or dissolved by Neptune, it is the planet of power as epitomized by the atomic bomb made with the element that bears his name, Plutonium.

Also in the USA chart, Venus is at Cancer 3⁰06′, which will be conjunct to Sun and opposed by Moon in the chart of the upcoming full moon. One of the symbolisms of Venus in mundane astrology is the country’s wealth and specifically its currency. We just saw how on June 9 multiple news articles appeared about the demise of the so-called petrodollar, which supposedly had been in place since June 8, 1974. Although the news was misinterpreted (Neptune), it is logical to expect more information, real or fake, about the dollar. Looking ahead, the new moon in Cancer will happen on July 5, a day after the US celebrates Independence Day and therefore in a close conjunction with its Sun. And the second full moon in Capricorn, which will occur on July 21, will have Sun and Moon in the anaretic degrees of Cancer and Capricorn respectively, at 29°09′. Moon will thus form an out-of-sign but close conjunction with transiting Pluto (Aquarius 0°55′) and radix Pluto in the USA chart, both.

Globally, on July 15 Mars and Uranus will be conjunct (Taurus 26°19′), an aspect that often signifies the appearance of earthquakes, both literal and figurative. Moreover, their conjunction will be a triple one with the star Algol (Taurus 26°10′). Conjunctions with Algol have been recognized since antiquity as omens of rulers’ decapitations, as it is likely to happen figuratively in France and the UK where elections will be held in the next few weeks and the incumbents are expected to lose. In fact, Uranus is already in conjunction with Algol. Even prior to September, Pluto in Aquarius, the sign of politics as the expression of the State (Capricorn), is exposing the dark side of the political class which is completely disconnected with the people’s needs, regardless of whether we talk about parties from the “left” or the “right”.

Two Timelines

If this article reads a bit schizophrenic it is because we are living the collapse of the old, which will come down like the fabled temple of Samson’s story: not with a whimper but with a bang. Unfortunately, the new is not here yet, so the only thing we have for sure right now is chaos. The paragraphs above about mundane astrology are evidence of a lower timeline that we can see everywhere, particularly in the nightly news. That timeline is harboring processes that feed on fear, which is why we are all encouraged to keep informed but not attached to what is going on.

Pam Gregory gives the analogy of being in a theater where the play is a hollow rehash of old themes, the scenery is falling apart, and the audience is leaving. Unable to cope with the situation, the actors say their lines louder and louder, trying to drown the noise of the theater collapsing and the stampede of people heading for the exits. This is what is happening on the world stage, the plot is known, the elites are trying to cling to power by trying to provoke fear from us, the audience. They claim to have the security we crave, perhaps by saving us from “the others” who may be immigrants or technologies (think of AI) coming for what is “rightfully ours”.

But, there is another timeline based on love and compassion that exists in parallel. Numerous mediums who channel galactic beings are telling us that humanity has turned the corner. Those of us working on the co-creation of a new civilization have reached a critical mass. We are not the majority by any means, but we are no longer in danger of being stopped. Humanity’s metamorphosis has enough mass and momentum that it will prevail. The chaos around us only strengthens it.

I may have written about the caterpillar and the butterfly already but it is worth repeating the story I first heard from Pam Gregory. In The Wisdom of the Butterfly, Michael Meade relates how the caterpillar has two kinds of cells, each with its own genome (DNA): one which keeps the creature on land and the other which allows it to fly. Both cells are present in the caterpillar and they do not mix, not only that, the butterfly cells are constantly attacked by the caterpillar cells. Once in the chrysalis, when the organism is reduced to a pulp, the final battle happens and the butterfly cells emerge victorious. However, by having to fight the caterpillar cells, the butterfly cells became strong enough to ensure the metamorphosis success. That is how the chaos makes us stronger.

As we advance in the timeline of metamorphosis, we are joined with others in consciousness. This will manifest, nay it’s already manifesting, in what we could call telempathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of others at a distance. I must note that the two timelines separated last April with the solar eclipse followed by the Jupiter–Uranus conjunction.

Wrapping Up…

Needless to say, we must stay on the higher timeline by focusing on our personal sovereignty and valuable relationships, as we have said earlier. Open your mind to grasp and hold onto higher and subtler levels of consciousness that we attract when operating from love and compassion.

Every little choice is important, for these are times when we must be conscious of our choices. Don’t give into fear and instead raise above the chaos, elevate to your own eagle’s perch where you can gain perspective and stay above the fray.

You are not alone, there is a large community of people co-creating a new civilization. Things will be more and more hectic as the old order agonizes, the actors will speak louder and even shout, but realize that the plot is hollow, it carries no truth, it is worthless.

The astrology is clear: the planet, the solar system, the galaxy and indeed the universe are on an evolutionary path that includes a new humanity. The metamorphosis is inevitable.

Always Love. 🌹🙏💖

  1. In my own chart, the angle between my Ascendant and Neptune is 164°52′, clearly indicating my life-long addiction to alcohol, since the escapism offered by drugs and alcohol is symbolized by Neptune. ↩︎
