A Key Rehearsal

After a month of relative calm, the forecast is for turbulence during the next two lunar cycles, when the three slow planets that haven’t done so will change signs. Just prior to the new moon in Gemini, so technically in the current lunation, Saturn will move from Pisces to Aries, as we will see in detail shortly. Then, on June 9, less than two days before the full moon in Sagittarius, Jupiter will leave Gemini to begin a year in Cancer and shortly thereafter, on June 15, Jupiter and Saturn will form a third and final waxing square from the Great Conjunction of 2020. We will talk about these events in the next article. Finally, on July 7, three days ahead of the full moon in Capricorn, Uranus will enter Gemini, forming a trine with Pluto in Aquarius and sextiles with Saturn and Neptune in Aries, therefore completing the Minor Grand Trine in the Yang signs of which we spoke in the preview of 2025.

Unfortunately the chaos won’t stop then because all these planets, except Jupiter, will return to their previous Yin signs and then change direction once more to finally relocate in the Yang signs next year. But, whereas this much change will undoubtedly bring chaos in society, it is needed to shake the consciousness of humanity-as-a-whole. Personally, we are urged to flow with the external chaos but always keeping a firm direction: onward and impulsed by truth. Aquarius is the sign most associated with truth and Pluto, the current “shepherd” of humanity, is in the initial months of a twenty-year journey through Aquarius.

Waning Phases

The Taurus lunation came with tremendous energy to be productive and to work on our relationships. Therefore, at around the time of the full moon in Scorpio, we might have come to realizations in either of those areas, or were privy of secrets perhaps related to ill-obtained wealth such as a luxury jet for his majesty, Donald I. At any rate, the waning phases of a lunation are times to understand and acquire consciousness of whatever was symbolized at the full moon. In doing so, we come to a crisis of consciousness referenced by the waning square between Sun and Moon which begins the Last Quarter phase of a lunar cycle. In this lunation, it occurred last Tuesday, May 20, at 29°43′ of Taurus (Sun) and Aquarius (Moon), thus in the anaretic degree of the signs, and mere hours before Sun entered Gemini. There was a double murder in Mexico City on that day and we are all becoming conscious of the message it sends.

Before moving on to the next lunation, let me say a few words about the energies of this past weekend and which are with us most of this week. Sun and Uranus formed an exact conjunction on Saturday, May 17, at Taurus 27°18′, in the current degree of the “malefic” star Algol which is associated with decapitations, real or figurative, of heads of state. A few hours later we learned that Biden was diagnosed with a “highly aggressive” prostate cancer. Astrologically, this was the last time such conjunction happened in Taurus, so we could experience “exit events” from Uranus, the planet of the unexpected, in Taurean matters like accumulated wealth (the economy), agriculture, or our Earth; as in earthquakes and the like.

Four hours later, in early Sunday, Mercury and Mars formed a square at 13°53′ of Taurus and Leo, respectively, an aspect that often results in angry communications and speaking or writing before thinking. Also on Sunday, Jupiter formed a square with the North Node (T-square with the nodal axis) at 25°05′ of Gemini and Pisces, respectively, an aspect that will be in orb for a couple of weeks and will bring opportunities to work on our visions and our beliefs system. Moon transits often serve as triggers and it was conjunct Pluto on the same Sunday. In mundane astrology, Moon represents the people and Pluto tends to intensify feelings. Beginning the Last Quarter phase with Sun and Moon in conjunction with Uranus and Pluto is leading to a week of sudden events; examples include not only Biden’s health but also the break in trade relations between the UK and Israel, with more countries to follow.

Saturn Changes Sign

On May 12, a few hours after the full moon in Scorpio, Saturn entered the anaretic degree of Pisces, in which it will remain until it leaves the sign on May 24 (Americas) or 25 (Europe). The chart below shows Saturn entering Aries in the leftmost position.

Upon entering Aries, Saturn will be in a tight conjunction with Neptune (Aries 1°44′), also forming a sextile with Pluto (Aquarius 3°43′). Even though both aspects are already in orb while Saturn acts from the anaretic degree, they will be stronger once they are “in sign” and will remain operational while Saturn is in Aries, until September 1. However, upon entering Aries, Saturn (and Neptune) will also form a sextile with Sun (Gemini 4°12′), itself in a trine with Pluto which completes a Minor Grand Trine with Saturn and Neptune as drivers. Those of you with planets or angles in the first three degrees of Aries or Libra, will feel powerful executive energies next week.

The chart of Saturn changing signs is quite similar to the new-moon one which we will analyze later in the article. However, I want to point out that Mercury (Taurus 28°06′) and Uranus (Taurus 27°43′) will have been exactly conjunct four hours earlier at Taurus 27°42′. Uranus is said to be the higher octave of Mercury, perhaps enabling higher levels of communication, like intuitive knowledge or dreams. Mercury transits may trigger actual events, too. Perhaps shocking news about a world leader? After all, it will occur in the degree of the star Algol.

Conjunction Saturn–Neptune in Aries

Last time we talked about these two planets, they were starting to act in unison in the final degrees of Pisces, the sign ruled by Neptune and where Saturn feels very uncomfortable. The archetypes of their processes are in many ways completely opposite. Saturn gives form and structure whereas Neptune dissolves them to find the essence beyond form and structure. In the psyche, Saturn represents what Carl Jung called the ego complex, the mindset we use to affront reality, while Neptune symbolizes the contents of the collective unconscious. However, they must act in unison when they form a conjunction and they form one every 36 years, although this one is quite special, as we will soon see.

Worldwide Implications

When these strange bedfellows get together, there is a feeling of liberation. The masses (Neptune) are given form (Saturn) and thus acquire relevance. This happened 36 years ago, in 1989, at Tienanmen Square, and 72 years earlier, in 1917, with the Bolshevik Revolution. In fact, Russia seems to be particularly affected by these conjunctions ever since Neptune’s discovery on September 23, 1846, a year with a triple Saturn–Neptune conjunction. The following conjunction (May 12, 1882) coincided almost to the day with the enactment of the “May Laws” by Czar Alexander III. Those laws, which took effect on May 15 in the current calendar, greatly limited the rights of Jews in Russia and ushered three decades of antisemitism. After the 1917 conjunction saw the formation of the Soviet Union, the next one, a triple conjunction in 1952–53, witnessed the death of Stalin and the emergence of Khrushchev who moved the USSR to the policy of detente with the west. Regardless, on November 9, 1989, the Berlin Wall fell and accelerated the end of the Soviet Union. Not surprisingly, Saturn and Neptune were in the midst of another triple conjunction, the last of which occurred four days later, on November 13.

A Tango Dance

There is something aesthetically pleasing in the back-and-forth of this conjunction. In a triple conjunction, there are three distinct time spans when the conjunction is in orb and the planets act in unison. Taken together, they seem to follow a dialectic of thesis, antithesis and synthesis, aided by the fact that at least one planet will be moving retrograde in the second one. However, this is very different. The retrograde motions of both planets are synchronized in such a way to remain in orb for an entire year, between now and early May, 2026. It is as if, this time around, Saturn entered Pisces on March 7, 2022 and heard the siren’s song of Neptune, ruler of Pisces, ahead in the sign. Over the next three years, Saturn has rushed towards Neptune so they can work together once more (and presumably do something to Russia).

Alas, when Saturn got close enough, Neptune moved to Aries, where a new song was about to start. As soon as Saturn enters, they will dance ever so closely until Neptune decides to return to Pisces, at which point Saturn will wait motionless until Neptune is just 0°13′ ahead. At that moment, both will slowly head back to Pisces, staying less than 1° apart for several days before Saturn reenters the sign ahead of Neptune. Later this year, Neptune will change direction again and will reenter Aries on January 26, 2026. Meanwhile, Saturn will also have changed direction and will reenter Aries on February 14. Finally, their exact conjunction will be on February 20 at Aries 0°44′, right on the world axis.

The Leap from Pisces to Aries

A slow planet (Jupiter and farther) changing signs is an important event but not all sign changes are created equal. Recall that the combination of a Yang and a Yin signs is what we called an operative coupling, where the Yang sign is the root symbol of the coupling and the subsequent Yin sign is the confirmation symbol. Changing signs within a coupling is needed to confirm a “theme”, so to speak. This will happen on June 9 when Jupiter will move from Gemini to Cancer. Conversely, when changing from a Yin sign to the next Yang, there is a “theme change” which causes disruption. This is greatly exacerbated when the change is from Pisces to Aries. Not only does it move from an operative coupling to the next, but from the end of a zodiac cycle to the start of the next one. In Aries, the planetary processes begin anew with the slate wiped as clean as possible. Neptune in Pisces gave rise to utopias and fantasies, great dreams in which all human beings are equals, with a sameness that results from applying a potent acid. Aries should remember nothing of the past cycle while Pisces represents all the memories of the ending cycle. As the last sign of the zodiac, Pisces makes the information of every prior phase available to extract wisdom from past experiences. Wisdom that will be tucked in the subconscious.

Like a newborn, a planetary process in Aries has no recollection of past lives, nor of ancestral or sociocultural influences. Neptune represents processes of relating based on compassion and universal love, that doesn’t change, but such process becomes individually-focused in Aries, rather than relying on spiritual collectivities, as we did while it was in Pisces the last fourteen years. Unlike Neptune, Saturn is much more action-oriented, but it will also be lost in Aries, unable to give social form to such a young and restless individuality. Nearby, Neptune is equally confused and their trines with Pluto only empower, they don’t direct. However, this represents an opportunity, especially around June 15, when Jupiter and Saturn will form their final waxing square, a moment of crisis in the cycle they began with the Great Conjunction of December 21, 2020. Such square will occur at 1°18′ of Aries (Saturn) and Cancer (Jupiter), on the world axis once more. It seems that Jupiter will lead Saturn which, in turn, will lead Neptune in the short run, until Uranus crosses onto Gemini in early July. I will tie it all to the Great Conjunction of 2020 in a future article.

New Moon in Gemini

Before then, Saturn and Neptune will be energized by Sun and Pluto, with which they will form the aforementioned Minor Grand Trine as soon as Saturn enters Aries this weekend. Of course, the configuration will be still present two days later, at the time of the new moon, thus becoming part of the potentialities’ seed for the month. The new moon in Gemini will occur on May 26, 2025 at 8:02 p.m. in California, 9:02 p.m. in Mexico City, or May 27 at 5:02 a.m. in Central Europe. The conjunction of Sun and Moon will occur at Gemini 6°06′ as shown in the following chart.

As we said earlier, little will change from the chart when Saturn will enter Aries and the new-moon chart. The first thing to notice is that most of the energy is found in Aries and Gemini. In fact, every object but one is in a Yang sign, the root symbols which introduce new “themes”. The exception is Uranus at Taurus 27°50′, hardly an exception given the unpredictability of Uranus.

It all starts with Sun and Moon in Gemini, ruled by Mercury (Gemini 2°21′), with which they form a triple conjunction. This represents tremendous energy for communication, in particular writing. The trines (green lines) with Pluto at Aquarius 3°42′ will empower the Gemini nature of the lunation while bringing spiritual stability, a meaning that Rudhyar gave to the Sabian symbol of Aquarius 4, as we saw in the last article. The triple conjunction of Sun, Moon and Mercury will form sextiles with Saturn (Aries 0°09′) and Neptune (Aries 1°46′), providing energies to manifest our individual dreams, once again, perhaps in writing.

Sabian Symbol

Sun and Moon operate from Gemini 7, which Sabian symbol is, simply: “An old-fashioned well”. Rudhyar provided the image: “A well with bucket and rope under the shade of majestic trees”, expanded as man’s primordial faith in the hidden sustaining power of life. Its key phrase is: A fundamental trust in and cooperation with life. Water often symbolizes spirit and the symbol may be a reference to the minimum effort required (the shaded trees) to secure it, to wit: Spirit will always and only respond to a call. The trine with Pluto puts the Sun–Moon conjunction in creative contact with a powerful spiritual stability, as we mentioned earlier. At a less-symbolic level, water is what sustains life and thus the symbol might refer to the perennial search for the precious liquid.

On Relationships

The trine shown between Mars (Leo 18°29′) and Venus (Aries 20°20′) was exact earlier today, May 22, but it has been in orb since the Aries lunation and will be operational until June 6. Therefore, at a personal level, the energies to work on our relationships, and on the balance of our needs and desires, will continue to be available during this lunar month. Venus and Chiron (Aries 25°28′) will be conjunct at the new moon, bringing healing energies related to personal sovereignty to our values system and our relatedness. Venus also forms a sextile with Jupiter (Gemini 26°55′) which, at its highest level, will expand the scope of communications within our relationships.

Discussion

The external world is becoming increasingly chaotic once again but this chaos will feel different, perhaps less confusing, although the confusion will return before the end of the year. Saturn and Neptune in Pisces add disinformation to their already turbulent actions, whereas in Aries they will act to achieve individual goals. For the next several years, Saturn and Neptune will be in Aries so the next few months could serve as a rehearsal for what awaits us in 2026 and beyond.

As a phase, Gemini is like a garden of choices, every thought may generate another one or even another thread, it is always possible to consider yet another point of view. The Gemini lunation always reminds us that we have choices. In particular, we know that we will be moving from the old order, based on the old (and obsolete) paradigms, to a new order that is yet to be defined and we are thus co-creating. Gemini reminds us that even though we know we will go from point A to point B, we don’t know which path we will be taking. Some are clinging to the old structures and others are going with the flow but few are doing what they do consciously. Every day, every little decision is an opportunity to embrace a new way of being, one which has faith in the plenitude of nature, the availability of water from the old-fashioned well.

Wrapping Up…

The combination of intellect and communications presents an ideal stage for those important conversations we have delayed or to write that message we want to send, or to begin the book I want to write, I suppose.

Love continues to be in the air; enjoy conversations and love making if possible. Jupiter will enhance whatever you put into your relationship.

As always, declare your intention before the new moon, I would say by Sunday night, May 25.

Always Love. 🌹🙏💖
