The current lunation began with a powerful new moon in Scorpio with Mercury in cazimi heralding the end of what we have been calling the old paradigms and encouraging us to reflect on what we want to co-create over the next few years. I will not talk too much about the future, for I am already writing the preview for 2026—yes, I am almost multitasking!—but instead emphasize why these are times to reflect on what no longer fits in our world, and take appropriate actions. The new-moon chart, you may remember, had Sun, Moon and Mercury in a water Grand Trine with Jupiter and Saturn, and opposing Uranus as pilot of a Kite that provided intuitive energy to reflect on our current situation. At the same time, Venus was forming a trine with the North Node which surely brought opportunities to look deeply at our relationships.
When the First Quarter crisis rolled around, Venus became the planet in opposition to Uranus and formed the same water Grand Trine for another Kite ready to look at what relationships should stay or go from our lives. Meanwhile, Mercury reentered Scorpio moving retrograde on November 18, going as far as Scorpio 20°43′ before changing direction on the 29th, one day after Saturn had also changed direction in Pisces, to inform us of the illegal and murderous military orders followed months ago off the coast of Venezuela. It probably shouldn’t be surprising that this week’s full moon will continue with the theme of making us realize the choices we must make. As a matter of fact, this Moon in Gemini may display what has worked in the past, as recently as three months ago, as an alternative to an uncertain future. The question is: do we want to remain in such a crumbling past?
Neptune Stationary
There is a perception among astrologers that stationary planets manifest their archetypes very strongly and I partially agree with them. In reality, a stationary planet spends a longer period of time in the same degree than it normally would, acting jointly with the degree’s meaning. Neptune has been in the final degree of Pisces since it reentered the sign on October 22 and will remain in it until January 26, when it will begin a new cycle in Aries.
We have talked about the Sabian symbol for Pisces 30, “The Great Stone Face”, as referring to the power of visualization, so there is energy to hone our mind and decide what we want to start co-creating next year. This is especially important because Neptune, as we have seen, is the driver of what the transpersonal planets are bringing to humanity. However, although it will remain in the same degree the entire time, it will change direction, from reflection (retrograde) to action (direct), on December 10, a day before the Last Quarter.
Moon Bendings
The orbital plane of the moon around Earth is tilted 5°08′ with respect to the ecliptic or orbital plane of Earth around the sun, seen as the apparent orbit of Sun around the zodiac. The two planes meet at a line called the nodal axis as shown in the following sketch:

The moon rotates in the counterclockwise direction, so it passes through the nearest node in the graphic when moving northbound, towards its highest point, which is why it is called the North Node. Conversely, the South Node is where the moon crosses the ecliptic southbound, towards its lowest point. We know that a new or a full moon occurring near the nodal axis, when Earth, the sun and the moon are aligned, produces an eclipse, but most of the time Earth is either below or above the direct line of sight between the sun and the moon. The nodal axis moves retrograde about 19°21′ per year, so the nodes remain in the same signs for about a year and a half. During that time, the sun will be near one of the nodes approximately every six months, corresponding to an “eclipses season”.
Looking at the figure, this means that about three months after such a season, a new or a full moon will occur with the moon at either the highest or the lowest point of its orbit. In astrology, these are called the moon bendings, either the North Bending when Moon is near the highest point of its orbit, or the South Bending when it is near the lowest. If a new moon occurs at one of the bendings, the Sun and Moon conjunction will form a T-Square with the nodal axis. However, if it is a full moon, like the upcoming one, the Sun and Moon opposition will intersect the nodal axis at 90°, forming a Grand Square, or Grand Cross. In either case, the corresponding configuration will herald critical moments when our life experiences will be influenced by our past behavior in similar situations.
Full Moon in Gemini
The axis of Gemini and Sagittarius refers to building relationships rooted on information and knowledge. Gemini is concerned with the proper categorization and communication of information whereas Sagittarius tries to find the broadest relationships in order to extract knowledge and wisdom. A Gemini person is constantly seeking to expand his mind by acquiring and cataloguing information, while a Sagittarian is a visionary or a philosopher who sees information as the raw material of knowledge.
The full moon will occur on December 4 at 3:14 p.m. in California, 5:14 p.m. in Mexico City, or on December 5 at 12:14 a.m. in Central Europe. Sun will be at Sagittarius 13°04′ and Moon at Gemini 13°04′, as shown in the following chart:

A Mutable Grand Cross
When looking at the chart, we immediately notice that Sun and Moon are forming exact squares with the North and South nodes at 13°43′ of Pisces and Virgo, respectively. We can see Moon at the North Bending and in a powerful Grand Square with Sun and the nodal axis. Such a configuration always involves the four signs of the same modality which either generates (cardinal), concentrates (fixed) or distributes (mutable) power, the latter corresponding to this full moon. As an aside, I don’t usually draw aspects to the South Node to reduce clutter but I wanted to show the perfect red square (I choose red for square aspects).
Whereas cardinal signs are prone to action and fixed signs are known to stubbornly stick to their guns, the mutable signs have a knack to see both sides of a situation. Gemini is fond of mental reasoning when looking at a quandary, Virgo will be more inclined to apply critical thinking around practical considerations, Sagittarius will tend to rely on intuition and wisdom, and Pisces will make emotional assessments. The Grand Cross will energize all four approaches, under an intuitive Sagittarian guidance of Sun and a rational response of Moon. In all likelihood, the full moon will arrive with events that will invite us to consider many alternatives.
Something else to consider is that Sun will be forming a quindecile (165°) with Uranus (28°53′), an aspect which carries the keyword “obsession” and for which astrologers should use a very tight orb (tolerance), 0°50′ in this case. Given the sudden nature of Uranus and its retrograde motion, we could get a barrage of intuition.
Venus and Mars are Involved
At the full moon, Sun will be surrounded by Venus (Sagittarius 5°11′) and Mars (Sagittarius 22°15′) in such a way that their midpoint falls next to it, at Sagittarius 13°43′, for an exact T-Square with the nodal axis! Therefore, Venus and Mars are intimately involved in the Grand Cross bringing our relationships to the forefront once again. Since the full moon is at the North Bending, we should look back to the lunar eclipse of September 7 for clues to interpret what this full moon will mean to us.
In any case, Sun will drive the full-moon questioning. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter which, at Cancer 24°16′, is in a powerful water Grand Trine with Mercury (Scorpio 22°50′), ruler of Gemini, and Saturn (Pisces 25°12′). The Grand Trine will be near exact two days later, when Mercury moves to Scorpio 25 for the second time. This carries special significance because Mercury is not only the ruler of Gemini but has been acting “from the heart” throughout the lunation, due to its new-moon cazimi.
Sabian Symbols
It would be impossible to get an accurate overall picture without taking into account the opposing symbols of the nodal axis in addition to those of Sun and Moon. First, we have Sagittarius 14 (Sun) with the symbol: “The Pyramids and the Sphinx”, further explained as the enduring power of occult knowledge and of its quasi-divine Custodians, “Seed-Men” of a previous cycle of existence. This is a complex symbol that evokes the belief in an Original Tradition based on the archetypal knowledge that underlies all manifestations of life on this Earth. The Great Pyramid and the Sphinx are witnesses to such a Tradition. When interpreted from a personal point of view, the symbol points to the greatness of a Soul’s past achievements, revealing The Power of Spiritual Ancestry, its key phrase.
Directly across, Gemini 14 (Moon) has the image: “A conversation by telepathy”, expanded as the capacity to transcend the limitations of bodily existence. An individual’s consciousness must be focused on an ego-mind formed by the pressures of culture and ancestry. When the individual is ready to transcend the limiting boundaries of culture and ego, he ought to enter a realm of consciousness where communication from mind to mind is possible because the minds operate within the One Mind of humanity.
In the other opposition, the South Node, symbol of our collective past, will be at Virgo 14: “A family tree” or a deep reliance upon the ancestral roots of individual character, a symbol which stresses the power of the past, be that of physical ancestry or a spiritual past stemming from a series of prior reincarnations. Meanwhile, the North Node, which refers to our future life experiences, will be at Pisces 14: “A lady in fox fur”, which has been interpreted as an image of elegance and even seduction. However, Rudhyar sees it as the use of intelligence and mental subtlety as a protection against storms and trials because, as he points out, the mythology of a fox is as a symbol of cunning and intelligence, in the sense of the ability to adapt to any and all situations.
The four symbols correlate quite nicely when we begin at the South Node, a logical starting point since it symbolizes all past. The deep reliance on the power of the past, the family tree, is made specific as the power of a spiritual ancestry, the pyramids and the sphinx. We are then encouraged to use our intelligence as protection for future crises with the goal of transcending our physical limitations and joining others in the One Mind of humanity.
Last Quarter in Virgo
Lately, I have found very useful to look at the half-moon charts of the First and Last Quarter phases, for they give us other important points to use the lunation as an evolutionary tool. Whereas the new moon is full of potentiality and the full moon reveals what was actualized, the First Quarter gives a kind of “progress report” of what is being realized at the halfway point. After the full moon, during the waning phases, we should assimilate and make sense of what was revealed. In that context, the Last Quarter chart can help us understand the full-moon revelations.
The waning half-moon will occur on December 11 with Sun and Moon at 20°04′ of Sagittarius and Virgo, respectively:

Mastering Our Desires
Two days earlier, on December 9, Mars will have formed an exact closing square with Saturn, an aspect of tension between two opposing processes: the drive, assertion, passion and pursuit of immediate gratification of Mars, against the discipline, responsibility, patience and long-term goals of Saturn. Such a square is often said to bring limitations to our desires and to our ability to get things done, but I think that is mostly true on the opening square. The closing square invites us to an inner dialog between our rebellious and our fatherly natures to achieve mastery over our own actions and desires.
At the Last Quarter, the midpoint of Saturn (Pisces 25°20′) and Neptune (Pisces 29°22′) will be Pisces 27°21′, just 0°03′ from forming an exact square with Mars (Sagittarius 27°24′). Neptune, which will have just changed direction, will help us avoid being overcritical of ourselves and, since it will enter Aries next year alongside Saturn, I think this particular closing square may slow us down just enough to visualize where we want to go in 2026.
Mercury Unearths and Reveals
That said, the star of the chart is Mercury which, at Scorpio 29°55′, is still in the aforementioned water Grand Trine with Jupiter (Cancer 23°41′) and Saturn but now opposing Uranus (Taurus 28°37′) and thus acting as leader of a sleuthing Kite that was exact a day earlier. Mercury will enter the conversational sign of Sagittarius in fewer than two hours after the Last Quarter to let us know what it found in his second transit through Scorpio. It would not be surprising to experience a number of events on December 10 to 12 that will correlate with what was revealed at the full moon.
At a personal level, Mercury represents our interaction with the environment and Scorpio 30 (“The Halloween jester”) symbolizes the need to enjoy it. While there may be external events that cause us to recoil at what is going on in the world, Mercury invites us to stay above the fray and be merry. I remind you that it began the lunation in cazimi and has nobility in its acts.
Focus on Finances
As it has done in the past few lunations, Venus (Sagittarius 13°52′) will occupy the space Sun had a week earlier and, therefore, it will form a T-Square with the nodal axis at 13°04′ of Pisces and Virgo. As you can probably guess, this will bring quandaries between holding onto the status quo or going to an uncertain future in matters of relationships and finance. The situation will be compounded by the obsessive quindecile it will form with Uranus (Taurus 28°37′) so we could feel compelled to decide. At the mundane level, any aspect between Venus and Uranus has correlated lately with activity in cryptocurrencies. This was true last week, when Venus was in opposition with Uranus and bitcoin lost quite a bit of value, and it may happen again next week due to their tight quindecile (0°15′).
And on Relationships
Above all, however, Venus represents the processes of establishing and maintaining relationships at a personal and intimate levels. It began the lunation in the sign of Scorpio, where it encourages us to observe our relationships and not overlook important details. Furthermore, the trine it formed with the North Node enabled life experiences to help us see our relationships for what they are and as deeply as we wished. This could have intensified last weekend, when we might have suddenly realized a significant lack of newness. As a result, some of us may have experienced the loss of relationships we once considered important. The full moon should help us realize that they were no longer helping us. In particular, Mercury moving to Sagittarius right after the Last Quarter will help us thank them for what they brought into our lives.
Wrapping Up…
Our sense of stability and structure has been precarious ever since Saturn began to move retrograde and more so when it reentered Pisces. Now that it is moving direct, we should begin to feel on solid ground once again.
Similarly, when Neptune went retrograde into Pisces, we were probably overcome with a sense of dread as disinformation took over the world once more. Its change of direction, even though still in Pisces, will begin to lift the collective veils.
As mentioned, our relationships may have suffered a blow lately and that is never pleasant. Take some time to thank them in a quiet meditation and move on; it is the right thing to do.
Enjoy the last full moon of the year!
Always Love. 🌹🙏💖
