Time to Observe

I have been anxiously awaiting the moment when Uranus would change signs from Taurus to Gemini, and it is finally here. As we will see shortly, the chart for that moment is impactful, in grand part by completing the Minor Grand Trine of the transpersonal planets in Yang signs. However, this will only be a two-month rehearsal of the configuration they will form through 2028 while they guide us to assimilate a leap in consciousness akin to what humanity experienced as a result of World War II. That said, upon entering Gemini, Uranus will also form an opposition to Moon just a few hours after the current lunation’s Gibbous phase began. Moreover, four days later Moon’s opposition will be to Sun, at the full moon in Capricorn that we will analyze as well.

Pluto in Aquarius

Before talking about those charts, let’s remember how we got here. First, Pluto made its third and final entrance to Aquarius last November, which began twenty years of deep transformations in areas archetypally linked to Aquarius such as science and technology. Back in early 2023, when it made an initial and brief entrance, ChatGPT was launched and gained popularity indicating that AI will be very important during this trip through Aquarius. At the same time, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has gathered data inconsistent with the latest cosmological theories. Back in 2008, when Pluto entered Capricorn, institutions were challenged and a financial crisis ensued. It seems that it will be science’s turn to be transformed this time; along with democracy, another Aquarian concept.

Neptune in Aries

The second transpersonal to change signs was Neptune when it entered Aries in March, followed by Saturn in May. As soon as they entered Aries, both formed Yang sextiles with Pluto. Neptune in Aries refers to what we called spiritual sovereignty, defined as being in charge of our own spiritual life. But Neptune also refers to the collective consciousness of humanity, which we experience as the collective unconscious, and in Aries it will begin a new evolutionary cycle. Up to now, humanity has only been able to evolve through wars and thus Neptune in Aries has been associated with global conflicts. One example is the War of the Spanish Succession in 1701, which became a pan-European conflict that ended in 1714, thus lasting all fourteen years of Neptune moving through Aries. The next time around saw the American Civil War beginning on the same day Neptune entered Aries in 1861 (April 12), and it was still in Aries when the Franco–Prussian War was fought in 1870–71. Neptune also represents fashion and, in Aries, it makes war fashionable as evidenced by the many current initiatives in the European Union for common defense.

Saturn in Aries

Aries is ruled by Mars and Saturn in Aries often refers to the necessary structure and organization around Martian issues, notably war. Such a position often coincides with an increase in conscription and military procurement, all of which have made the news recently, particularly in the European Union. Although Saturn enters Aries every 29.5 years, this time it is entering with Neptune in a year-long conjunction we likened to a well-danced tango. If Neptune makes war fashionable, Saturn structures it; as evidenced by the increased defense spending among NATO members, to 5% of GDP. Being alongside Neptune, Saturn will structure and “make real” humanity’s dreams and nightmares. But Neptune will not be acting alone in Aries, for it will be the driving planet of the Minor Grand Trine that will include the transformations of Pluto in Aquarius and the revelations of Uranus in Gemini. Saturn will be making a reality of all of this between now and the first half of 2026. Furthermore, for the next two weeks Saturn and Neptune will be as close to each other as ever this year.

Mercury and Uranus

In Roman mythology, Mercury was called the messenger god and served as a liaison between humans and the other gods. In Roman times, Saturn was at the end of the solar system, so Mercury communicates what happens in the world of personal needs and desires (Venus and Mars), and of societal expansion and consolidation (Jupiter and Saturn). All of this changed in 1781 when Uranus was discovered—while transiting through Gemini—and made clear that there was more to the solar system than what literally met the eye, since Saturn is the last planet visible to the naked eye. Of course, this was further corroborated when Neptune was discovered in 1846, and Pluto in 1930.

Today we have literally thousands of objects beyond the orbit of Saturn but Uranus remains the closest to us. Collectively, those objects represent what lies beyond the physical universe we perceive with our senses (Mercury), and thus Uranus symbolizes extrasensory perception of that which is not material, ranging from intuition to transphysical communication such as telepathy or clairvoyance. We thus refer to Uranus as the higher octave of Mercury and the messenger of what lies beyond our senses. An individual with strong Uranus in his chart is often at the periphery of society, just like Uranus is at the periphery of the “material” solar system of antiquity. He may appear to live ahead of his time, colloquially speaking.

Uranus in Gemini

Uranus is very frustrated in Taurus, for it represents the most conservative phase of its liberal process. Everything slows down in Taurus and Uranus, like Mars, is addicted to speed, which is why their recent square swiftly manifested as the dramatic (Mars in Leo) Israel–Iran–US war. However, the Gemini phase is completely different since it no longer compels a process to be productive. We can compare Uranus in Taurus to a Ferrari piloted on rush-hour traffic whereas in Gemini it will feel like it is driven on a twisting country road. The Gemini phase is one of personal expansion, primarily through gathering and communicating information. In general, transiting Uranus will point out what has been outgrown so, if you know your chart, look at the house where you have Gemini 0°, for you are likely to become suddenly restless in that field of experiences.

Since it was discovered in 1781, Uranus has traveled through Gemini on the following dates (first transit in parentheses):

  • April 8, 1775 – July 13, 1781 (June 19 – December 1, 1774),
  • March 14, 1859 – June 27, 1865 (June 2, 1858 – Jan 1, 1859),
  • October 15, 1942 – August 30, 1948 (August 7 – October 5, 1941), and
  • April 26, 2026 – August 3, 2032 (July 7 – November 8, 2025).

Until now, the United States has been in a transformative war each time: the War of Independence (1775–1783), the Civil War (1861–1865), and their involvement in the Second World War (1941–1945). Obviously, the chart for the US Declaration of Independence has Uranus in Gemini, at 8°55′ to be precise, so the next return will be active, using a 5° orb (tolerance), between July 5, 2026 and May 28, 2029, with exact conjunctions on July 26, 2026, November 5, 2027, and May 11, 2028. In the US chart, Uranus is in the sixth house, forming a conjunction with the Descendant at Gemini 12°21′, which is the cusp of the seventh house of allies and known enemies in a nation’s chart.

Structure and Contents

I am not necessarily saying that the US will be at war this time around. In the last article, we talked about cycles and said that astrology is a discipline for their study. Strictly speaking, the field of study would be cyclicity and the distinction is one of structure and contents. When we say that time is cyclical, we don’t mean that individual events will repeat every time a cyclical process, such as the orbit of Uranus, will come back to one phase like Gemini. Such a situation would negate all creativity, everything would be predetermined and evolution would be impossible. Events refer to the contents of an individual process which is cyclically structured. The cyclical structure of a process presents us with crises and other inflection points that will arise rhythmically every 84 years in the case of Uranus.

Rudhyar gives the example of a sunrise, a particular moment (phase) in Earth’s rotation (process) when we see the sun appear on the horizon from a specific viewpoint. Every day, such a phase in the process occurs so that refers to the structure. However, each individual sunrise is different. The sun will have different stars in the background as a result (primarily) of Earth’s orbit around the sun, the vegetation around us will also change, and sometimes the sky will be overcast and we won’t even see the sun—but the sunrise will happen. Uranus is the planet of revelations and it pertains to information when it is in Gemini, from gathering to classifying. Up to now, such revelations have caused crises involving allies and known enemies that have pushed the US (as a whole) to engage in wars of high importance for the country. The same type of crises will reappear during the next Uranus return but that doesn’t mean that they will have to be met with yet another war.

Uranus Changes Signs

As we said earlier, on July 7, 2025, Uranus will change signs from Taurus to Gemini at 12:47 a.m. in California, 1:47 a.m. in Mexico City, or 9:47 a.m. in Central Europe, as shown in the following chart:

In an Aries chart, Gemini begins at the 7 o’clock position, where you find Uranus as expected. The first thing to notice is that it forms a conjunction with Venus (Gemini 2°58′) that was exact on July 4 in the anaretic degree of Taurus, at 29°52′. Uranus and Venus together will propitiate newness to our values system and our relationships. In Taurus through the weekend, the newness will be felt in art, finances or sensuality but, once Uranus enters Gemini on Monday the 7th, there will be an emphasis on mentality and information. Both planets will form oppositions with Moon (Sagittarius 4°52′), allowing us to feel the emotional impact of whatever new we add to our values system.

The Minor Grand Trine I

Upon entering Gemini, Uranus will form a Yang trine with Pluto (Aquarius 3°00′) and Yang sextiles with Neptune (Aries 2°10′) and Saturn (Aries 1°54′), thus completing the Minor Grand Trine in Yang signs mentioned in the 2025 preview. As a matter of fact, that configuration was also mentioned when we previewed 2024, but last year it was formed in the Yin signs of Capricorn, Pisces and Taurus. Such a configuration energized the ending of the old order—although humanity chose to empower it and make such an ending more painful. In the Yang signs of Aquarius, Aries and Gemini, the three transpersonals are initiators in the root symbol that sets the tone of a new operative coupling.1 We already mentioned that the Minor Grand Trine will be in orb through 2028 and will be responsible for huge changes in humanity. The next two months are an opportunity to get an idea of the energies we will be feeling in the next three years.

Jolt to Our Values System

Marc Edmund Jones once said that astrology is the science of beginnings and, indeed, the chart for the entrance of a planet in a sign gives us an indication of what to expect while it is in that phase of its process. In this case, however, Uranus will only make a short trip through Gemini since it will go retrograde on September 6 and return to Taurus on November 8, so this could be seen as the rehearsal’s chart.

The oppositions of Venus and Uranus with Moon (in blue) form the base of a Trapeze configuration with the Minor Grand Trine which can be seen by following the sextiles (in purple) from Moon to Pluto, to Neptune (and Saturn) and to Uranus. This is a wonderful configuration to understand the polarity of the opposition which represents, as we said, the emotional implications of whatever new has come into our values system and our relationships. In fact, Moon, which symbolizes our emotions or the people of the world, has many aspects besides those formed with the Minor Grand Trine. It also forms a square with Mars (Virgo 11°27′), a trine with Mercury (Leo 11°07′), and a quincunx with Jupiter (Cancer 6°15′). These suggest up to four months of revelatory energy urging us to reconsider the values we utilize to form and maintain relationships, and act accordingly; at least for the next two months until Uranus moves retrograde.

Full Moon in Capricorn

Three days later, on July 10, Sun in Cancer and Moon in Capricorn will be in exact opposition at 18°50′ of each sign. It will occur at 1:37 p.m. in California, 2:37 p.m. in Mexico City, or 10:37 p.m. in Central Europe, as you can see in the following chart:

The Sun–Moon opposition divides the chart in two halves. The left side is dominated by the Minor Grand Trine of the transpersonal planets (plus Saturn) while the right side features Mars (Virgo 13°32′) forming a Mystic Triangle configuration with Sun and Moon. Venus (Gemini 6°54′) and Uranus (Gemini 0°09′) would normally be too far apart to be considered in a conjunction, but both form trines with Pluto (Aquarius 2°56′) and sextiles with Saturn (Aries 1°56′) and Neptune (Aries 2°10′), so the Venus–Uranus conjunction will be still operational, perhaps revealing issues related to our values system. After all, revelations are often timed with a full moon.

The Capricorn full moon falls on the solstitial axis of power, for Cancer is the sign of the integrated individuality while Capricorn is of society as an integrated collectivity, both being sources of power—integration generates power. When in Capricorn, Moon is displaying what society is doing with our individual power, since Sun is providing light from Cancer. Mars in Virgo is in a very practical phase, when its decisive action is aimed at solving issues. Its opposition with the North Node (Pisces 20°08′) will ensure opportunities to become aware of the balance of power between individuals and society.

The Minor Grand Trine II

Meanwhile, the Minor Grand Trine is getting tighter as Pluto, Neptune and Saturn are moving retrograde while Uranus moves forward. It will be near perfect in August, when the Uranus sextile to Neptune will be exact with the other aspects at less than one degree from exactitude. On August 9, Mars will form an exact opposition with Neptune to complete the powerful Kite configuration mentioned in the 2025 preview as a cosmic opportunity for peace; we will analyze it further in a future article. In the chart of the full moon, Saturn and Neptune are only 0°14′ apart, the former stationary and the latter moving retrograde slowly. They will be as close as 0°13′ at the Last Quarter phase but we will have to wait until February 20 of next year for their exact conjunction.

Sabian Symbols

The Sabian symbol for Cancer 19 (Sun) has the image: “A priest performing a marriage ceremony”, further explained as the ritualization of productive interpersonal relationships, a technique to acquire Sanction, its keyword. The image for Capricorn 19 (Moon) is: “A child of about five with a huge shopping bag”, which Rudhyar rephrased as: “A five-year-old child carrying a bag filled with groceries”, expanded as raising to the occasion when asked to assume social responsibilities ahead of one’s normal development. Its key phrase is Accelerated Growth which is not necessarily a good thing. Both symbols speak about the Cancer–Capricorn relationship of the individual with his society, either asking it to sanction the marriage or assuming social responsibilities.

Wrapping Up…

We speak of the transition from a world based on the old paradigms to the start of a civilization based on new ones, symbolized by the Minor Grand Trine. When the three transpersonal get together, as they did during the Second World War, major shifts in consciousness occur in humanity. Back then, for the first time we contemplated the real possibility of nuclear annihilation under the ruthless direction of Pluto, which was in charge of the configuration. This time, Neptune will be in charge so the process won’t be as violent even though the changes will be just as monumental.

Any substantial transformation must destroy the old before constructing the new. Yet, construction won’t begin until 2026, when the outer planets are firmly in their Yang signs. The next few months are but a preview of the creative phase while we are still in the destructive one. The best we can do is observe what is happening around us and inside ourselves. Recall that we will be active co-creators of what we deem a new civilization.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Venus and Uranus will team up to develop new relationships, not necessarily romantic, centered perhaps around the arts or sensuality. On Monday, they could take a more intellectual tone. Regardless, Monday is likely to be remembered as an important date over time. Hopefully, you will be able to enjoy the full moon next Thursday, it will be magnificent.

Always Love. 🌹🙏💖

  1. Recall that, when viewed in Time, two consecutive signs form what we called an operative coupling of which the first sign (Yang) is called the root symbol, setting the tone for the coupling, and the second (Yin) is its confirmation symbol. ↩︎
