As we have discussed many times, humanity’s evolutionary processes are manifested as the orbits of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, the so-called transpersonal planets. Their orbital periods are such that the energies they symbolize affect large segments of the population and for longer periods of time. For this reason alone, Pluto currently marks the basic rhythm of our evolution and it finally began twenty years in the sign of Aquarius. Thus, instead of talking about 2025, I will begin in November of this year, when such entrance took place, and venture a bit into 2026, when Uranus and Neptune make similar entrances in Gemini and Aries, respectively, so I will cover about eighteen months of trends.
We Took Off!
I have been using the analogy of relocating to a remote land when talking about the evolutionary leap available for humanity. Before starting this blog, I said we would realize in 2023 that the old paradigms had to be replaced, and we had to figuratively go to a place where we will co-create our future under new paradigms. That year we experienced the turmoil of leaving for good. Among other things, we had to pick our destination, what (and whom) to take or leave behind, and make traveling arrangements. Pluto entered Aquarius for a few weeks and let us glimpse a few probable destinations, so to speak. In the analogy, by the end of the year our airplane was taxiing and ready for takeoff. We called our destination the new civilization.
Last year, we said 2024 would feel like speeding down the runway, seeing the old world outside appear to pass us by at high speed in the opposite direction. As an example, look at the many elections that empowered the “old order”, in the words of José Millán, most notably the US presidential one. Not only were we speeding in the opposite direction, we were on the runway all year long, always trying to focus on our takeoff and ignore the chaos outside. In that article, we mentioned accelerating energies, like the April 21 conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus. Under this analogy, the November 19 entrance of Pluto in Aquarius was the moment of takeoff for each of us.
If we continue with the analogy, the eighteen months following such entrance will be the initial climb, when we must power through air currents and clouds on our way to cruising altitude. Anyone who has done a fair amount of air travel knows that this climb has periods of relative calm followed by some turbulence as well as periods of sunlight or ever-changing shadows. That, in a nutshell, is what we can expect for 2025 and the first few months of 2026.
Order and Chaos
I know I have been saying that the times of chaos will diminish but we need chaos, in the form of creative disorder, to disrupt what is no longer functioning and give way to a new order. Recall that, according to the Philosophy of Wholeness, Order and Chaos are other manifestations of Unity and Multiplicity which, like Yin and Yang in the Tao, can never be zero. Therefore, as studied by chaos theory, there is some order in chaos that may be meaningful, and there can never be perfect order.
But there is one more consideration about order and chaos from the holistic viewpoint, in particular as it relates to what we have termed a holarchy: a hierarchy of wholes based on encompassment. Such holarchies are readily found in biology where organisms contain and are composed of organs, in chemistry where molecules contain atoms, or in cosmology where galaxies are composed of solar systems. As mentioned in the introduction to Rudhyar’s holistic zodiac, what is perceived as chaos at one level in the holarchy is order at the higher level. In our own body, the organs of, say, the digestive system appear to work independently of those of a different system, like the circulatory. But at the higher level of the entire body, they work in perfect rhythm for the overall health.
The point of that simplistic example is to show how there may be order in the chaos of our daily lives, for we really live in the midst of chaos. At the planetary level, we can see how configurations like the Minor Grand Trine of the transpersonal planets bring to the Collective Unconscious memories of World War II, or Pluto in Aquarius may remind us of the French Revolution. Some astrologers use these and other facts to claim that the end of the world is near. They are partially right, the end of some worlds is near, those based on old patriarchal ideas of power over others.
Historic Times
In the article about the full moon in Gemini and the winter solstice, we mentioned that in a ten-day period, between December 6 and 16, three planets would change direction: Mars, Neptune and Mercury, in that order, which is why I titled the article Time for the Unexpected. However, that pales in comparison with the changes we will witness in the next few months: Pluto finally moved to Aquarius, Neptune and Saturn will make an initial entrance to Aries in 2025 and fully in 2026, and Uranus will do the same with Gemini. As if these sign changes were not enough for 2025, Jupiter will enter Cancer and the nodal axis will move from its current Aries–Libra polarity to Pisces–Virgo.
The transpersonal planets move from a Yin (feminine) sign to a Yang (masculine) one. We have seen that the twelve signs should be better seen as six operative couplings composed of a root symbol that defines the nature of the coupling followed by a confirmation symbol. All three will turn the page from one operative coupling to the next one, indicating new evolutionary phases. Plus, these are times of action. If we take the five “slow” planets, from Jupiter to Pluto, we can identify ten different interrelationship cycles, out of which only two, Saturn–Uranus and Saturn–Neptune, are in the waning phases. Saturn will be conjunct with Neptune in early 2026, starting a new cycle, while Saturn and Uranus won’t be conjunct until 2032. The other eight cycles, in the waxing phases of action, urge us to actualize various potentialities related to accepting a higher level of consciousness. So much creative chaos reinforces our belief that we are living historic times.
Pluto in Aquarius
The social planets, Jupiter and Saturn, represent processes of expansion and contraction, of growing a collective by establishing more and farther relationships as well as introducing social structures and norms to limit the anarchy that would likely ensue. Their twenty-year cycle, the average period between two Grand Conjunctions, symbolizes the pulse of society, which nowadays is in its crisis of action: the First Quarter phase after the Grand Conjunction of December 21, 2020 in the first degree of Aquarius, at 0°26′. That was the beginning of 200 years with Grand Conjunctions occurring in air signs, after a similar period in earth signs. While the element earth represents what is substantial, physical and solid, air symbolizes that which is ethereal, mental and transparent. The transition from material capital, like possessions, wealth or resources, to human capital will be instituted socially and culturally worldwide.1
That such 200-year era began in Aquarius, indeed in its first degree, is no coincidence. It preceded the triple entrance of Pluto in Aquarius (March 23, 2023, January 20, 2024 and November 19, 2024), reactivating each time the Sabian symbol of Aquarius 1°, which has the image: “An old adobe mission”, referring to a building of faith that has lasted much longer than the people who built it, a symbol of spiritual durability.
For millennia, Saturn was the limit of the solar system and humanity lived within the confines of the social and cultural structures it built to contain the expansionist tendencies of Jupiter. When Uranus was discovered on March 13, 1781, ruling Pluto in Aquarius, humanity had to accept a solar system that went beyond our senses, since Saturn is the farthest planet we can see with our naked eyes. Therefore, in its own way, each transpersonal planet focuses our attention beyond the physical structures built by Saturn. Pluto exposes the darkest aspects of the sign it transits, unearthing and empowering its daemons so we have no choice but to face them.
When transiting through Capricorn, Pluto exposed various oligarchies and their excesses, yet left them empowered. It is up to us, humanity, to realize they are the creations of our western civilization and deal with them. However, though it created and empowered various economic bubbles in its transit through expansive Sagittarius, it also exposed how they were abused by financial institutions upon entering Capricorn in 2008 (January 25 and November 26), resulting in the Great Recession, from December, 2007 to June, 2009, according to Wikipedia. Similarly, it seems logical to assume that Pluto will soon undermine the empowered elites while exposing various Aquarian excesses that currently sustain them.
Opposition Mars–Pluto
The long opposition between Mars and Pluto, which we first encountered forming a Grand Cross with the Sun–Moon opposition at the full moon in Aries last October 17, will be in orb at least till May 11, 2025. Along the way, it will have been exact three times, on November 3, when it formed the last major aspect of Pluto in Capricorn prior to entering Aquarius for the third time, and next year on January 3, with Mars retrograde, and on April 26, hours before the new moon in Taurus. At a personal level, we identified Mars as our individual will and Pluto as the Cosmic Will, labeling their opposition a test of wills and an opportunity to align our future with humanity’s collective destiny.
However, in mundane astrology such an opposition often presents an opportunity for conflict, particularly when it spans several months, as it is currently the case. The last time Mars and Pluto were opposed multiple times was in 1939 and the similarities are uncanny. They were exactly opposite for the first time on May 23, with Mars in Capricorn and Pluto in Cancer and just a few days before Pluto entered Leo for the third time on June 13. Shortly thereafter, the second opposition occurred on June 18 with Mars retrograde, and the last opposition was on September 30, two days after the full moon in Aries. Uncanny, indeed.
Perhaps more importantly, in 1939, Mars began to move direct on August 27, the full moon in Pisces was on the 29th, and the Second World War began on September 1. Next year, Mars will inch back to direct motion on February 24 and the new moon in Pisces will be on the 27th. That said, I am not predicting another world war, only that humanity will experience a similar leap on our collective level of consciousness. Unfortunately, the old paradigms will be defended by those who benefit from them and conflicts will undoubtedly arise. If they do, the first week of March seems vulnerable.
Nodal Axis in Pisces–Virgo
Our first important realization of such a leap will likely occur around the March 14 lunar eclipse in Virgo, which may lead to actual events around the March 29 solar eclipse in Aries, even though the shift of the nodal axis from Aries–Libra to Pisces–Virgo will have happened on January 15. The other two eclipses, on September 7 (lunar) and September 21 (solar) will happen with Sun in Virgo and promise to be very significant, too.
Upon its entrance to Pisces, the North Node will form a conjunction with Neptune, exact on February 6, so the nodal axis will be in a Kite with the Minor Grand Trine of the transpersonal planets. By the lunar eclipse of March 14, it will be close enough to Saturn to form a conjunction. Millán called the combination of Saturn, Neptune and the North Node in Pisces a crisis of faith. We will expand on these concepts as the year progresses.
Yang Minor Grand Trine (a preview)
For well over a year we have been talking about the Minor Grand Trine formed by Uranus, Neptune and Pluto as the key configuration indicating our evolution in the level of consciousness. It began forming in 2023 and was very tight a couple of times with Pluto in Capricorn forming a trine with Uranus in Taurus and both forming sextiles with Neptune in Pisces. That configuration, in confirmation-symbol signs, often called feminine or Yin, prepared the landscape, so to speak, by communicating the shadow aspects of humanity (Uranus), dissolving their forms to expose their core (Neptune), and destroying or empowering their followers (Pluto). One of their final acts, two days after the first exact Mars–Pluto opposition, was to preside over the US elections.
But the Minor Grand Trine will stay with us until at least 2030, so most of the time it will be in root-symbol signs, also called masculine or Yang, since Uranus will enter Gemini on April 25, 2026 and Neptune will enter Aries on January 26, 2026 (Pluto is already in Aquarius). However, Uranus will briefly enter Gemini in 2025, from July 7 to November 7, and Neptune will visit Aries from March 30 to October 22. Historically, when Neptune enters Aries, it is met with a global conflict, the last time was in 1861, the start of the US Civil War. The point is that we will get a preview of the Yang Minor Grand Trine in 2025, between July 7 and October 22.
Once again, the similarities with WWII are impossible to ignore. Just like it entered Aquarius on November 19 of this year, Pluto entered Leo, the polar opposite of Aquarius, for the third and final time on June 13, 1939. At that time, Uranus was at Taurus 20° and Neptune at Virgo 21°. As it will do in 2026, Uranus entered Gemini on May 14, 1942 but it had previously spent two months there in 1941, from August 7 to October 4. Meanwhile, Neptune entered Libra, the polar opposite of Aries, on August 2, 1943, though it also spent six months visiting the sign earlier, between October 3, 1942 and April 17, 1943.
Enough of the similarities, there are important differences between now and then. During WWII, the transition from Yin to Yang took longer and it wasn’t until the summer of 1943 when it was finally in place. Moreover, Pluto in Leo was the driving planet of the configuration, forming sextiles with Uranus and Neptune. A new consciousness was developed through the realization that we can destroy the planet many times over with nuclear (Plutonium) energy. It is also worth noting that the important Uranus–Pluto and Uranus–Neptune cycles were in the waning phases, their conjunctions took place in 1966 and 1993, respectively.
Kite with Mars
Back to our times, the Yang Minor Grand Trine will be the basis of a Kite with Mars as leader opposing, Neptune, the pilot. In 2024, Sun, Mercury and Venus formed Kites with the Yin Minor Grand Trine but Mars was delayed due to its eleven weeks of retrograde motion. Its opposition to Neptune will occur on August 9, only eight hours after the full moon in Aquarius and less than a day after forming a similar exact opposition with Saturn. That full moon will be very significant, with Saturn and Neptune in a same-degree conjunction that won’t be exact for several months. The Kite will have Mars in Libra, the “war diplomat”, opposing both Saturn and Neptune. That full moon in Aquarius could easily bring peace to world conflicts, notably the war in Ukraine.
Saturn–Neptune Conjunction
The exact conjunction of Saturn and Neptune will occur on February 20, 2026 in the first degree of the zodiac, at Aries 0°45′, whose Sabian symbol we know so well: a woman emerging from the seas, representing a new level of consciousness emerging from the Collective Unconscious, with a seal wrapped around her, symbolizing the pull of our memories and our past, ancestral or cultural, to return to the old paradigms of behavior, the familiar ocean waters. But that exact conjunction is the culmination of a long tango that Saturn and Neptune will dance for a year, including individual forays into Aries where they will even share a degree but without being exactly conjunct. That said, their conjunction will remain in orb from April, 2025 until April, 2026.
In prior articles, we have mentioned that both Russia and Spain are very susceptible to these conjunctions which occur approximately every 35 or 36 years. In the case of Russia, the fall of the Berlin Wall, basically the end of the Soviet Union, happened during the last conjunction in 1989. The previous one was in 1953, when the death of Stalin resulted in a “thaw” in the Cold War led by Nikita Khrushchev, and it was during the one before, in 1917, that Tsarism was defeated during the Russian Revolution. Given the current war in Ukraine, it is easy to imagine a similar historic event while the conjunction is in orb. The Mars Kite will offer an opportunity for true diplomacy, as we said earlier. Regardless of when it happens, after peace is reached in Ukraine, Putin’s regime will not be the same.
As you can imagine, we will be talking about this conjunction over the next year or more. The astrologer Dan Waites called it a manifestation of spirit and pointed out that UFO sightings increase dramatically. Indeed, 1989 was a year with multiple sightings in Belgium, and when Linda Napolitano claimed to have been abducted from her New York apartment by aliens, with 23 witnesses corroborating various parts of her story. She is currently suing Netflix for a mini-series made about her situation, The Manhattan Alien Abduction, which alleges that it was all made up. In the past couple of weeks, however, there have been multiple reports of very strange “drone sightings”, first in the UK and now in the USA, that neither the FBI nor the Pentagon are able to explain. Expect more of the same.
Saturn–Uranus Sextile
One more thing. By being conjunct to Neptune, Saturn forms sextiles with Pluto and Uranus, activating their respective cycles. In particular, the cycle of Saturn and Uranus is about new and often revolutionary societal structures. The time between Saturn–Uranus conjunctions is 44 to 46 years, slightly longer than the Saturn–Neptune one. As I mentioned earlier, Saturn and Uranus will meet in 2032, so the aspect in 2025 will be the waning sextile of the cycle that began in 1988. At that time, there was a triple conjunction that fueled the revolutionary discontent expressed in the following months, not only the fall of the Berlin Wall in Germany but also the protests in Tiananmen Square. And before 1988? Well, the previous conjunction happened in 1942 for yet another synchronicity with WWII.2
China
Each entrance of Pluto in Aquarius placed stress in the natal chart of China3 because the Ascendant is at Aquarius 1°44′ forming a conjunction with Moon at Aquarius 3°04′. Both forming trines with Sun at Libra 7°46′. The Ascendant is the identity of a nation, the “face” they show the world. Pluto conjunctions with the Ascendant literally transform the nation’s identity. As an example, the attack on the Twin Towers (September 11, 2001) happened when Pluto was in the same degree as the Ascendant of the US chart!
On the other hand, Moon symbolizes the people in mundane astrology. It shouldn’t be a surprise that we are talking about the People’s Republic of China, given the Moon–Ascendant conjunction of people and identity. An unfortunate example of Pluto conjunct a nation’s Moon happened in the chart of Argentina all of 2017 and part of 2018, using a 5° orb, a period of time when its population living in poverty rose to over 50%.
Therefore, the combination of Pluto transiting over both the Ascendant and Moon in China’s chart spells trouble for that country in the next 3–4 years, but especially in 2025 and 2026. They have a large demographics problem plus the result of many bad policies enacted in the past, and it will all come to roost.
A Panoramic Perspective
At first glance, it would seem like not much will be different in 2025 from 2024. There will be periods of intense chaos but they will somehow feel lighter, especially when Saturn and Neptune transit through Aries and Uranus through Gemini. Importantly, as each of us gains altitude in our individual flight, we will be able to see the chaos from a higher viewpoint and with substantially less attachment.
Initially, 2025 will bring the second exact Mars–Pluto conjunction that may increase tensions worldwide but not necessarily produce events, and the nodal axis will change signs producing an in-sign conjunction between Neptune and the North Node, likely intensifying the number of extra-terrestrial theories to the current “drone craze”.
There will be much action around the first two eclipses: the lunar eclipse in Virgo on March 14 and the solar eclipse in Aries on March 29, the day before Neptune makes its first entrance into Aries. A lunation that starts with a solar eclipse is always significant but more so when it is the Aries lunation, the first one of the astrological year. Its ruler, Mars, will already be moving direct and speeding to its third and final opposition with Pluto on April 26, just hours before the new moon in Taurus marks the end of that lunar month in Aries.
If the spring will bring action, the summer will bring evolutionary opportunities. As mentioned earlier, the Minor Grand Trine will be in Yang signs from July 7 to October 22, giving us a preview of its “true colors”. In the Mars Kite of August 9, the opposition of Neptune in Aries with its ruler in Libra may fuel relationships with the highest ideals, or misconstrue and even dissolve the collective value systems in another evolutionary juncture. However, the September eclipses promise to raise our level of consciousness and prepare us for a cold winter of reflection.
Wrapping Up…
The political instability worldwide will not abate in 2025 as the global elites fight for their survival. The same policies enacted in one country will be abolished in another one. We will witness one futile attempt after another to delay the inevitable progress. But more and more people will be searching for truth in their lives and especially in their relationships.
The entrance of Neptune into Aries, even if only for a few months, will empower the migrating masses of people demanding to be taken into account. We have been predicting a veritable tsunami of people seeking refuge from climate change or despotic oppression, and they will be better organized with Saturn also entering Aries.
Later in the year, the brief entrance of Uranus into Gemini, from where it will immediately form a creative trine with Pluto in Aquarius, the sign it rules, will usher advances in communications and science, but only after exposing how scientific research is currently mired in corruption.
That said, the combination of Pluto and Uranus always bring swift and powerful changes that, under the direction of Neptune, will dissolve as if by magic what seemed like perennial power structures. Remember that it is all necessary to co-create a new civilization based on universal love and compassion. As usual, the lunation cycles will mark the rhythm of our individual evolution.
Always Love. 🌹🙏💖
- In his latest book, José Millán says that Mexico, India, Vietnam, and perhaps Nigeria, are countries with human capital and could become cultural centers in the Age of Aquarius. ↩︎
- Despite how it may seem, these are uncommon circumstances, true synchronicities. Uranus and Neptune have a nearly 2:1 ratio in their orbital period (84 and 165 years), but the 248-year orbit of Pluto is in a 3:2 ratio with Neptune so it should drift apart from the other two. However, Pluto’s orbit has the highest eccentricity of all planets and Neptune’s is the second lowest, after Venus. This is how both Pluto and Neptune traveled half a zodiac while Uranus traveled an entire orbit, from Taurus to Taurus. ↩︎
